Interesting hypothesis. One might wonder if some of the Asian cities where a significant percentage of people wear masks due to air pollution have a higher incidence of people with weaker immune systems. Then again, if so, how to determine whether it's because of lack of exposure to...
It might be 10 days already. I've no idea how long I might've had it before I tested myself.
When my wife had it about a year and a half ago, it was 7 days between her first test (positive) and her first negative test.
So, after Monday's still-positive test, I managed to continue to test positive on Wednesday and Friday. Very strong, no chance of not seeing it red line. Symptoms come and go. I spend most of a day not coughing too much or needing to blow my nose, then in the evening, both are back. Rinse...
Not too speedy. I tested myself again this morning. Still positive.
Managed to get one appointment I had for tomorrow rescheduled. Still waiting on a call-back for the other.
To be honest I'm not feeling all that terribly, all things considered. The clogged sinuses earlier, and the current coughing are more annoying than anything else. I had low energy a couple of days ago, but yesterday and (so far) today, I'm doing OK. Even the coughing hasn't seemed as persistent...
The other shoe has finally dropped.
Round the end of last week, my wife developed symptoms of a bad cold. She was miserable for about four days, and then started feeling better. The second day in, she decided to test for Covid, and it was negative. As she started to improve, I started getting...
Dodged a bullet.
My wife was out in California for a work thing this week (I was going to go with, but for reasons ended up not going). When she called Wednesday night, she mentioned feeling out of sorts. Sinuses clogged, sore throat, headache. She felt like she was coming down with a cold...
My wife and I got our Covid shots Friday night (Pfizer, as always before). Oddly enough, this time we had some strong-ish side-effects. Our arms were more sore than with previous shots, and it's lasted longer than previous shots. They're still sore today. And we both felt exhausted all day...
It's easy enough with me: everything goes into my left arm. I've had lymphedema in my right arm. It was 12 years ago, and it hasn't been an issue for quite some time (though it looks like I have a "Popeye" arm, in comparison to my left), but to be cautious, I don't do "pricks or pumps"...
My wife and I have our Covid boosters scheduled for a week from tomorrow. My wife is getting her flu shot tonight, when we go to pick up her latest med refills. Our pharmacy won't have the senior dose flu vax until late October, so I'll get mine later. Still mulling over the RSV.
Other than the circumstances bolded above (other than "shopping at stores"), I'm pretty much the same as you. I've been cautious throughout the pandemic, but not overly so, and haven't gotten Covid yet -- that I know of.
Neither my wife nor I will go on a cruise ship. Medical issues aren't our concerns. It's that neither of us think it looks anything remotely like having fun. Other people's mileage might vary.
My wife and I have been maskless for a few months now, and so far so good. But we'll probably be masking up again when in crowded situations like movies. And almost certainly when flying to California again in October. And it'll be our choice to do so. So far, no one is telling us we have to do it.
Yeah, we heard this on the NBC national news tonight, as well. And the flu and Covid can be gotten together. It'll be good to get these in September, as my wife and I are planning another trip to the left coast in October.
Hey, it happens. As I mentioned a year ago, my wife spent was at a two-day get-together with work colleagues. I drove her down to Boston on a Thursday, and picked her up on Friday. Sunday night, there was a flurry of emails that people who attended the get-together got Covid. She starting...
My wife and I still wear masks in places where they are required or requested. We also still wear them in places where there are a lot of people in close proximity (like the movies). And we still don't eat in restaurants.
In uncrowded stores however, we don't bother with them.
My wife and I got back from our trip west. We wore masks in crowds (in the airport, on the plane, in the shuttle buses, etc.), but otherwise not. I had some sniffles and a slight cough later in the trip, most likely a cold due to temperature fluctuations, and only having brought clothing for a...
For what it's worth, my wife and I wear masks when we go out shopping, and no one gave us any crap about it, or even a look of disdain (that I could notice). Same with our over-6-hour non-stop flight from Boston to San Francisco. We only took them off when drinking/snacking. Most of the people...
My wife has a work thing she needs to go to in Santa Barbara in a week-and-a-half. I'll be going with her, and after the 3 days she'll be in meetings, we're going up to San Francisco to stay almost a week with my sister. We're not looking forward to the times in which we'll be in crowded...
With me, it's a matter of knowing my personal history and how those symptoms present themselves at various times of the year. It's like knowing that if your sinuses are clogged during pollen season, and you know that you have a history of hay fever, it's likely to be that, and not a cold.
I...
