Always happy to see some Nancy Savoca come our way. It's nice that we're getting this and (from WAC) Dogfight soon. But her best movie, Household Saints, is still MIA (not even released on DVD or LD).
On edit: Oops! For Dogfight I meant to say Criterion, not WAC.
I suppose there are two ways to look at it. Yes, the Imprint was apparently in that "Storaro nonense" (2.00:1 "Univisium"). On the other hand, if I recall correctly, there were some scenes in the film were shot in 65m. So, one might be able to argue that the those scenes could be framed to...
I saw Camelot in the theater at an impressionable age (I was 14 at the time). It didn't hurt that I was already a fan of King Arthur stories. Loved it then. Still do (though these days I can see the weak points).
Not trying to be snarky here, but I found it amusing that the announcement mentions "Lost in the Stars" as the "what else is this person is known for" choice. Cry, the Beloved Country is the work Paton is known for, and what Lost in the Stars is a Broadway musical adaptation of. Seems like the...
But, oddly enough, only on Blu-ray. The Criterion set was originally released in 2010 on DVD, and on Blu-ray in 2019. Their current listing only shows the BD as being available. I wonder how many other DVDs of theirs might have silently disappeared from availability.
We also added a brand new audio commentary, new key and reversible art and a slipcase.
Meaning..."new key [art] and reversible art". The Key Art would be (in the images above) the yellow one for the sleeve and the disc.
I figured that most of the Eastwood films Kino released previously on BD were a good possibility for UHD. Interestingly enough, this was one of three that I hadn't gotten around to picking up yet (the others are Coogan's Bluff and Breezy).
Doesn't that depend on what one considers suspenseful? One could argue that there's no suspense either way because we know from the outset that Columbo will solve the crime. Not finding out who the murderer is until the end of the episode isn't really all that suspenseful. We know it's going to...
Yes. As said, there was the American Theatrical version and an International version. Both were on Kino's Blu-ray release from three years ago. The International cut ran about 10 minutes longer...
Which begs the question...will it contain both the American and International cuts that were on the Blu-ray? If so, will they both be on UHD, or will one of them only be on Blu-ray?
Excellent movie. The only disappointment I have here is that Kino either couldn't or chose not to include the commentary by Paul Seydor, Julie Kirgo, and Nick Redman that was on the Twilight Time BD. I much preferred their commentary to Frankenheimer's.
