Via Vision/Imprint needs to allocate a slightly bigger budget to their graphics dept. Some of those covers look like the stuff you find in $5 big box dump bins.
Stargate the film is a minor masterpiece and should've gotten a better release by now. StudioCanal can be slow as molasses when it comes to physical media releases. Stargate the series may not fare as well. Whoever takes it on will have to spend a lot of $$$ updating the effects for HD. Thing...
I've got my eye on that Stargate set but something tells me I should wait a bit longer. The film is bound to receive a fully refurbished UHD upgrade, hopefully sooner rather than later.
The specs for Malena say it's a 2K master. I have a Korean release from several years ago but everything is in Korean so I have no idea what they used for the source. What I want to know is what is the vintage of the scan Imprint is using. I don't want to end up with two copies of the same film...
Thanks for your thoughts on this edition.
I ordered a copy on the assumption it could be a slight improvement over the Olive disc. The Imprint says it's a 2K scan - I figure this has to be an improvement by default since the Olive disc is so old (there's no mention on the Olive disc of the...
Absolutely no incentive to purchase that edition of Jacob's Ladder. No mention of a new scan. I bet Kino picked this up with their Lionsgate deal and will give it a sparkling, and much needed, fresh 4K scan. Who knows, it may even get a 4K disc. Sorry, Imprint - ya gotta do better.
Perhaps, but they're obviously a quality-minded label judging by their general presentation and thoughtful extras. I'm sure our Australian counterparts would also appreciate some attention paid to film transfers and don't just buy for the pretty packaging.
I love IMPRINT but I find their general indifference towards PQ frustrating. They are an excellent label overall, just wish they would insist on fresh scans when they acquire titles. Kino is one-upping Imprint with fresh scans of films Imprint is releasing, which is now making me pause placing...
Imprint is a label whose monthly announcements I very closely watch and genuinely anticipate, unlike something like Criterion, who seem to strive to only focus on films with very limited appeal (old foreign arthouse films, quirky dramas and documentaries). Imprint doesn't have the best track...
Deep Discount, ImportCDs and, to a lesser extent, Diabolik DVD, sell Imprint titles in the US. There's really no need to import all the way from Australia. I've stocked up on quite a few and, yes, they're worth the extra bit you pay for these.
I buy these because a good number of the films...
Boxed sets are pricey but they're in line with what other boutiques charge for similar sets in the UK and US. I get individual Imprint titles for $34 from Deep Discount - more or less what I pay for Arrow. OK, maybe a bit higher but these ARE hard to obtain outside of Australia so I don't mind...
Already own the US release of Timeline but I'm such a sucker for packaging that I'll probably also grab the Imprint edition. Glad Mothman Prophecies is being released even if it's an older scan; Sony scans are typically high quality. I know it has a BD release somewhere in the world but...
