Best Actor should have been Dafoe. Actress, definitely Olivia. For supporting actor I'd have preferred Richard E. Grant. Regina King was awesome. Best Picture: Green Book, aw shucks, c'mon. Better BlackkKlansman, a much better picture all around, and a more sincere one. My 3 choices for BP were...
@Jake Lipson Do you know how many people actually don't watch their screeners because of sundry reasons? If the AA members were required to submit some kind of proof that they had watched all the nominated films in all categories (as I have except for Border, Christopher Robin and Mary Queen of...
Of the 5 male nominated leads, Willem Dafoe delivers the most complex, subtle and raw performance in At Eternity's Gate playing Vincent Van Gogh. But hardly anybody saw it so he won't win. He gets my vote for a masterful performance that feels lived in, lacking in any actor's tricks.
One person's dross is another's treasure. YMM
Most likely. I still enjoyed it while watching it. I must admit that I hardly remember it now in great detail as opposed to some of the other nominees. In my opinion, only 3 movies from the list deserve to be remembered.
This Friday I will see all the nominated shorts. With that, I shall have seen every single film in every single category except for 3 titles nominated in minor categories: Mary Queen of Scots; Border; and Christopher Robin. I had scant interest in these titles but will see them in due time.

I believe the longest acceptance speech on record was delivered by Greer Garson when she won for Mrs. Miniver. That was way back in 1943 and was not televised. Gloria Grahame's "Thank you" was probably the shortest and most appreciated by all.
No Gaga for me. Adequate at best. Colman's performance is probably the strongest, but Close will win. Her film, however, I found weak, and buoyed mainly by her performance.
I saw them all some time ago, and on the big screen. IMO, the only 3 movies that deserved to be on the list of nominees were: Roma, The Favourite, and BlackkKlansman. The rest were fair to middling to ...There were some movies out there which were better than the other 6 nominees, for instance...
To paraphrase you: Gary Oldman's makeup (in (Darkest Hour) gave a good performance, I guess, but he was pretty much one note. My least favorite film of last year's nominees by a wide margin.
