I'd be cautiously optimistic about that. The Criterion Channel has run some pretty lousy transfers. They're currently showing The Handmaid's Tale in a 4:3, SD version, even though a decent HD master exists.
Yes, it's been like that since the beginning. Criterion is aware of the issue but don't seem to be in a hurry to fix it. I ended up getting a Roku just so I could watch their films properly.
I got the same thing via Roku the other day. I was really looking forward to this service, but I'm pretty disappointed so far. Apple TV stutters (same with iPad and iPhone), Roku won't play straight through without interruption, and it doesn't let me connect my laptop via HDMI because of stupid...
I watched The Lineup last night and noticed some stuttering, like frames were being dropped from time to time. It wasn't a bandwidth issue, as I have gigabit internet directly wired into an Apple TV from the modem, and I ran a speed test which showed I was getting 950+MB. It's not something I've...
I played around with it a little last night via an Apple TV 4. The image quality seems pretty good, about on par with Netflix. No complaints here, particularly given that a single Criterion blu-ray costs about the same in these parts as 4-5 months of this service.
The quality is not the greatest. It lags well behind Amazon, Netflix or iTunes. For newer material shot digitally, it's fine, especially in HD. But for anything grainy, there are some pretty obvious compression issues.
Awesome. Looks as though this will be available in Canada, as well.
