So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

Hey, notice how those buildings outside the windows are also the apartment complex where Boomer ended up as she was adjusting to her new life. I think it is also the apartment complex where Starbuck was held prisoner. The room itself (with the slanted wall windows) is also the "V"...

So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

When that scene was revisited in one of the final episodes, the Firefly was gone. But I'm glad it is there in the pilot. The same effects house did Firefly and BSG. They'd become really good at the "hand held camera...in space!" style with Firefly, and it seems that the effects people sold...

So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

I do have to hand it to the show that they put some supreme misdirection in the search for Earth by referencing the Eye of Jupiter so much as they neared our part of space. I couldn't have been the only one who expected that after Starbuck descended into that weird storm, that she'd go through a...

So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

Spoilers Some fans theorized that he wasn't even going to build the cabin that he planned to build and live in with his girlfriend, he was going to shoot himself a few moments after we see him last, and that's why he said farewell to his friends and family and said that he going off alone...

So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

I think ultimately, despite his best intentions, Ron Moore's own personality overshadowed that of Bill Adama in the last episodes. I'm just guessing of course, but if you look at Moore, he wears a beard which is often a sign of an antisocial person (sorry, just speaking as a general rule, I know...

So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

***LOST spoilers and some Battlestar spoilers ahead.*** I didn't mind the faith elements of either show -- in fact I LOVED the "faith" ending of LOST, I thought it was really clever to say "all those Dharma Initiative puzzles? They aren't the point. The point is 'live together or die...

So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

I too felt like in the last season the air went out of the tires. I appreciated that they changed the visual effects -- suddenly space battles were all gold and red -- but the storyline itself did not pull together. I think there was the writers strike at some point around the last season? Or...

Me too. I'm also forgetting who the first four to be exposed were.

So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

You complain about insults being leveled at the old show (even though I haven't seen any here), and then you level insults at the new show? Hypocrite. And the original Galactica featured a sex obsessed character called Starbuck (of the cigar-chomping male variety). The new show's sexual...

So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

I wouldn't call making Starbuck a woman was politically correct, more like they wanted some beauty for the male fans to watch. That could be considered "sexist" as much as it could be considered "politically correct". "'They hate us....' ... That to me, sums up more credibly the motives of...

So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

I don't know what exactly "politically correct" means -- sometimes it is used when a show has people of other races than white, but the original Galactica did that too (Boomer and Tigh). Sometimes it means relativistic morality, but that's...that's always been the case with everything. Sometimes...

Razor has some good elements, but the main plot isn't one of them. Think of it as Galactica-light.

So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

The day after LOST, when some celebrities dying made the front page, my first thought was "at least they got to see the end of LOST". It's not an invalid thought. Years of watching a show, and missing the ending, would be unfortunate.

So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

There are several freestanding releases: The miniseries that launched the series. The Razor episode (basically a "hey, we've got these empty sets standing around while the cast and crew are on vacation, why don't we use 'em for sumthin?" situation). The Plan (the post-series attempt to wrap up...

So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

Ron, Helo was reluctant to have a relationship with Sharon because he knew she was involved with the Chief. But over the course of many days in their situation, nature took its course. Spread out over several weeks, you get more of Helo's reluctance. But watching it all at once, it seems...

So, I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica

I seem to recall the miniseries was shot on film, so should have grain. The series was shot on video and they added artificial grain on purpose. Different parts of the show are processed to look different. The launch deck for instance is usually processed to look more high contrast and noisy.
