People think Group A is the entire diversity requirement and they freak out when a movie they like doesn't meet it. Groups B, C, and D are there to give films that are unable to meet group A due to being historically accurate or other reason a chance to meet the requirements.

You would have to go out of your way not to meet the Oscar eligibility requirements. Groups C and D should be automatic for any major studio.

As long as the Oscar voters weren't bribed or threatened I'm ok with it.

I still don't see what the issue is with the campaign. The studios seem to be much more forceful with their campaigns.

I saw Women Talking today and it was incredibly well attended for a Thursday Matinee that isn't a preview showing for a major blockbuster. About 80% of the theater was filled. After I see Triangle of Sadness on Sunday I will have seen all the Best Picture nominees. Everything Everywhere All...

Considering EEAAO led with 11 nominations including 4 in acting categories it would most certainly have been included in the top 5.

My local arthouse theater is bringing back Everything Everywhere, Tar, Triangle of Sadness, All Quiet on the Western Front, and is bringing for the first time Living. They are already playing The Whale, Women Talking, The Fabelmans, and Banshees.

Apparently To Leslie doesn't currently have a US distributer. That will probably change soon. It is available on VOD.

Definitely an uptick in nominating films for Best Picture that people actually saw this year with Avatar, Top Gun, Elvis, and Everything Everywhere.

I never even heard of "To Leslie".

And a Best Actress Nomination from the movie that leads the pack at the Razzies.
