I don't think I ever saw a video store with Jaws in the horror section and I always thought that was crazy.

Since I basically use the challenge as an excuse to rewatch all my favorites, I only watched two new movies (Halloween Ends was disappointing and Terriffier 2 was just gross). Eh, maybe I can call it two and a half if you count the 3-D conversion of Dawn Of The Dead as new. I can't believe I...

Once I got home from work, I got in one more... 148. Gremlins Little monsters attack a small town at Christmas time. A movie that manages the tough task of being an actual funny horror movie. And the next two, I watched because I always watch them on Halloween night and since I already...

Check her out in Pearl. She's given more dramatic material to work with and I imagine it will benefit her career. Got in one more last night... 147. Terror In The Aisles Clips of mostly 1970's and 80's horror movies hosted by Donald Pleasence and Nancy Allen. Another movie that I fondly...

Continuing on with the past few days' watching... 128. April Fool's Day (1986) A group of friends go to a house on an island and one by one, they begin to encounter a stranger. A fun movie with a likable group of young people. 129. Grizzly A grizzly bear starts killing people and they won't...

Earlier this week, me and my boss finished all of our work BS (and I humbly say that we did great) so I was able to spend more time watching a ridiculous amount of movies. 113. Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter Jason returns from the dead to kill more young adults at a secluded house in the...

I am a huge fan of the Scream movies and continuing on without Wes Craven seemed like a big gamble to me but I was very happy with this. It was clearly made by fans of the originals and they did a great job of mixing the old characters with new likeable ones and putting them all in situations...

To me, Hooper was another director that turned out amazing work in the 70's and took a major tumble in the 80's. Unfortunately, he's got some great company in that category.

Regarding two of your points... I consider Halloween to be the first true slasher movie because it really set the template that so many movies would copy for the next 5 + years. I think of Black Christmas, Peeping Tom, etc. to be proto-slasher movies that aren't quite there and they didn't kick...

I saw that on HBO and it's not bad but it feels endless. The movie also seems to come to a natural ending at about the two hour mark which made the last 50 minutes even tougher to get through.

All those insanely overlong and self-important Marvel movies have made audiences and some filmmakers think that every movie is now an epic and too long means that it's good. It's a movie about a clown killing people- it shouldn't have been longer than 85 minutes.

I got one more in before I went to bed... 112. Friday The 13th Part III A couple of days after Part 2, young adults go to a secluded cabin and run into Jason. The 3-D is fun but there's little to no special effects and too much recycling of the score from the first two movies. The weakest of...

One more after dinner... 111. Friday The 13th Part 2 Five years after the first movie, counselors in training return to the same area and find that Jason is living in the woods and he really doesn't like visitors. Over the years, this one has become my personal favorite of the series.

I had the day off so I woke up early and spent the day watching movies. 104. Halloween III: Season Of The Witch A crazed mask maker wants to wipe out kids all over the country. It's nice to have lived long enough to have seen this movie go from being completely trashed to beloved. 105...

After Creature From The Black Lagoon, that's probably my favorite of Universal's 50s sci-fi monster movies. There's a couple of effects shots of the 'giant' tarantula that look realistic and still work which is pretty impressive for a movie that's nearly seven decades old. If you haven't seen...

Yeah, I saw it at a Regal. I think it's made a few million dollars by word of mouth with no studio and no advertising (that I'm aware of anyway) which is an incredible achievement in today's market. The reports of people puking or passing out certainly caught my attention and while the movie...

I haven't seen the first one but it wasn't required to follow the second one. That being said, it's probably worth it to start at the beginning. I had some free time today and heard all the hype so I decided to go on the spur of the moment without having seen the first one.

I didn't even know that Terror Train was getting remade and I'm kinda shocked that I never heard about it (especially since Jamie Lee Curtis is currently back in the horror spotlight). Even if it was just the standard fan complaints about remakes.

I've been busy with work so I've only watched one movie in the last few days (gasp). 101. The Blob (1988) Excellent remake with decent twists, likeable characters and cool special effects. Plus, Kevin Dillon's hair is funny.

I'm sure it'll do its own thing but it sounds like they're using Cruising as a springboard for the leather serial killer story. If you're a fan of slasher movies, 1984 was a pretty decent season of AHS.

That's how I watch them during these challenges. I enjoy it because jumping from a Frankenstein movie to an Invisible Man one gives some variety and it's interesting because you can see filmmaking change pretty dramatically over the course of twenty-five years.

That was one of the last horror movies that Universal spent money on. After that, it was 95% B-movies for their horror pictures.
