International Arrow Video Press Release: DUNE (1984) (4K UHD)

And it's entirely possible it's a disc issue. Are there still firmware updates for UHD players?

Not that it's the same problem but I remember having the same "audio but no video" problem with a disc on a profile 1.0/early Blu-ray player. Hearing about problems like that make me fine with waiting longer to buy a UHD player.

That was my initial thought too but that doesn't really reconcile with the other handful of new features being on the disc and the existence of the special features from the previous releases. From my POV, it seems like they should just wait until the documentary is done or just put the...

International Arrow Video Press Release: DUNE (1984) (4K UHD)

I'm curious how the delay on Ballyhoo's end could have come up so suddenly. This disc could be delayed two months and still make the release of the new movie. How did everyone involved announce this disc only a month ago with the idea that the documentary would make the deadline but now a month...

International Arrow Video Press Release: DUNE (1984) (4K UHD)

Yeah. I'm a Lynch completist so I'll still get it eventually but as someone who isn't that fond of the movie, the documentary was easily the most interesting thing about the release. And it would have been something I would have picked up on the first day but without the documentary, I'll likely...

International Arrow Video Press Release: DUNE (1984) (4K UHD)

So is that David Lynch kiboshing the documentary (he was able to veto the commentary on Kino's Lost Highway disc) or did Ballyhoo suddenly encounter a major problem making the documentary?

I've seen the movie multiple times and the opening narration still doesn't make much sense to me.

International Arrow Video Press Release: DUNE (1984) (4K UHD)

Like all of Lynch's movies, I think it's nice to look at and it has some really great sets and costumes but that's about all I get out of it. That being said, I'm not a huge sci-fi guy so even if this version of Dune was universally revered, it still probably wouldn't be my thing so take my...

Laura Dern is so good in Inland Empire that I'll take it any day over Dune.

I saw it about 5 years ago in 35mm and it didn't look good then either.

Even if it's in HD (and I'd be surprised if it is), the TV version should still fit on one Blu-ray. Maybe there are two TV versions? IMDB has this in their alternate versions: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087182/alternateversions

Don't expect to find a movie that you suddenly love. It's got some lovely photography but it's Lynch's worst movie by a million miles.

Nice to see them not include the Lynch-disowned TV version.
