With the amount of success he's had, I think he's got to have at least one more 'failure' before that happens. If Warners doesn't give him what he wants, he can literally go to any other studio who will give it to him in the hopes that they can also get him to turn out a franchise movie for them.

That's definitely possible. The theaters have no leverage so Warners can put both on there and tell the theaters "tough luck" if Tenet really takes a beating.

I still think they'll move WW if Tenet doesn't earn. If Tenet goes in the hole for a couple hundred million because of limited seating, how does WB release another massively expensive movie a month later when seating likely won't be much better?

My guess is that since Tenet is so expensive, WB will do everything they can to make money from it as soon as they can. Home video and VOD seem like a lock since there will be more money than usual to be made from the people that really want to see it but don't want to go to a theater.
