I agree but that would show a level of long term thinking that I think is missing in alot of the world today. I think they're more concerned with looking at what a movie did right now than how the business will be in a year or two or five.

Absolutely but it needed to make $600 million to turn a profit and that's the kind of ridiculous amount of money that alot of these tentpole movies need to make so if Tenet didn't come close to that kind of money, I can see how studios would be very hesitant to release a movie and risk losing...

I saw a screening of The Empire Strikes Back that was sold out last night at a large AMC that is kind of a hike from me. The AMC that is close to me has been selling about 15 tickets for Empire and it's the busiest thing I've seen playing there this weekend.

I'd actually argue that if (when?) some chains fold that the remaining theaters will end up playing the same tentpole picture on like 80% of their screens to compensate for the theaters lost and to handle the consumer demand from there being less theaters so that big opening will still be there...

My local AMC is open on the weekends from 2 to 8 (Tenet gets 4 shows and most of the other movies get 3 shows each) and the rest of the week, it's 4:30 to 7:30 (with two shows for every movie). I was afraid that PVOD would kill theaters but the lack of product may do it.

I agree but it might be even worse financially, if they wait until the spring or summer IF theater chains have started to close up.

At this point, they may want to release No Time To Die in November because if they delay it until spring or whenever, I wonder if some of the theater chains might have failed by then and there will be even less screens to put movies in comparison to the current limit on seating capacity.
