Maybe I'm wrong but I do. I'm glad that a good amount of stuff was answered/killed/finished in TLJ because it will hopefully keep TROS from simply being a checklist of things they have to answer.
By no means am I an expert but I'd say that since diversity has been part of Star Trek since the beginning, there's less backlash because the really racist people never got into Trek in the first place. Since Star Wars is now making an effort to feature some other types of people, the racists in...
It's a tough thing though because while I agree that people are giving them what they want, I also think people should speak out against those assholes too.
A team of psychiatrists couldn't do that.
Same here.
If the subject of Star Wars is brought up and someone immediately gets mad & starts ranting about the prequels or Rian Johnson or Kathleen Kennedy or 'SJWs' or whatever is the current thing pissing off the unstable segment of the fanbase...
I think Driver and Hamill gave the best performances in the movie.
I loved that character. Del Toro looks like he just came in with a crazy take on the character and Johnson just went with it because it was a cool weird move. It amused me that people hated the character so much. Fun fact: DJ...
In my experience, you're completely wrong about that. Those new characters have been embraced and are already beloved by the fanbase. When I saw The Force Awakens, I couldn't wait to see the original trilogy characters again but the new ones almost immediately won me over. I mean I'm not...
I hope this isn't too convoluted.
As something that the average person in the SW galaxy knows about? I'd guess that it's only been a few years. The First Order started out as the remnants of the Empire after their final defeat at Jakku (which is why there's all the wrecked ships seen in TFA)...
I was let down by Williams' score for TFA and it chalked it up to age starting to get the best of him so I was blown away by what he did for TLJ. It's one of his best SW scores.
As an aside, his score for The Post was really good too. Much different than TLJ but top notch stuff.
Not really the right thread but it's sequel trilogy oriented so what the hey- A new animated series starts in the fall and it's called Star Wars: Resistance. It's set prior to The Force Awakens so it will focus on the Resistance. It will feature new characters but also have appearances by BB-8...
I'm going to guess it was probably an issue of where Disney could put the score on the digital version for free but if it was on the disc, they would have had to pay. Maybe I'm just being cynical and they just didn't do it for the sake of the AV quality.
According to Rian Johnson on Twitter, there's a music-only version of the movie available via Movies Anywhere.

I read that book and thought that people were going to hate the Holdo character because she was basically a quirky hippy. When she popped up in the movie and wasn't as odd or strange as the book portrayed, I figured that the author had made the decision to have her be different when she was a...
I agree. If there was an Acting Hall Of Fame where the peak of the profession gets honored, I'd say that someone should have either an incredible body of work and more than 'just' an iconic role but for the requirements of the Walk Of Fame, Hamill could have been on there long ago. To be fair...
I think the most impressive thing is that Harrison Ford came out. I'm sure he and Hamill are friendly with each other but it just seems like Ford doesn't do any kind of publicity thing unless he has to.
My theater has 22 screens so everything plays for a long time (Peter Rabbit is in its fifth week and it has two screens all day- who is seeing Peter Rabbit at 8:50 or 9:45 PM on a Tuesday?). All the other theaters in the area that have a dozen or so screens stopped playing Star Wars around the...
I'm in the same boat with a bunch of movies I want to buy coming out all at once. Also, I've got a perpetual backlog of 2 or 3 books and I'm already in the middle of one so I probably won't get a chance to read TLJ (besides reading the prologue when I got it yesterday) for a couple weeks.
I just keep seeing the movie. It's leaving my theater on Thursday and it's going to be a rough 18 days for me after that.
I read the prologue of TLJ today and it was a pretty great 'What if'.
The scene basically goes that Hux is looking at Snoke's body and he walks over to the unconscious Kylo Ren and starts to go for his gun to bushwhack Ren. At that moment, Ren wakes up and Hux stops going for his gun & he asks Ren what happened. Ren says that "the girl killed Snoke" and escaped...
Yeah, showing a bunch of kids getting chopped up would have just been tasteless. Having the shot of Vader igniting his saber as the kid is looking at him is powerful and it allows your imagination to fill in the awful blanks.
In this age of social media whining, there will be no ending that doesn't cause a segment of the fanbase to lose their minds and proclaim the movie to be the worst moment in the history of mankind.
I'd agree but by the last 1/3 of the movie (after Snoke has said how he's no longer conflicted), he's willing to let Leia's cruiser be shot down and he orders that no survivors be taken at the base on Crait. By the end of The Last Jedi, I think he's supposed to be 100% committed to the dark side...
In The Force Awakens, Ren seals his deal with the dark side by killing his father. It's why he thanks Han as he kills him. Early in The Last Jedi, Snoke says how killing Han has split Ren in two but later before Ren kills him, Snoke says how he now senses Ren's resolve. Snoke drastically misread...
It'll be a bummer for multiple reasons but I'm curious to read the novel that will feature the death of Princess Leia. I'm sure it won't be released until after Episode IX comes out to maintain surprise for the movie but that could be a really dramatic book.
What's funny to me is that after The Force Awakens, I said how Kylo Ren was completely irredeemable because he killed Han Solo. Even if the story worked out that he was redeemed, I thought the audience wouldn't accept it because he killed a truly beloved character. Then when he killed Snoke in...
