I'm definitely no authority but I've never even heard any other title for it than The Devil And Daniel Webster.
Anyway, I'll pick up Devil (or All That Money Can Buy) and To Die For.
If it isn't coming out in yet another October, I'd guess Criterion isn't going to release I Walked With A Zombie or The Seventh Victim. Hurry up, Warner Archive! :)
Time Magazine had an interview with John Waters and that said that Pink Flamingos was coming from Criterion in June. I guess we'll know on March 15 if that's accurate or not.
I believe that will be the first movie with someone eating dog poo to be included in the Criterion Collection.
Agreed. I always like hearing someone that has researched a movie and basically delivers facts for 2 hours but sometimes it's fun to hear a few people getting together on a movie that I enjoy and having fun walking down memory lane. I also think commentaries on current movies have an interesting...
I'll be picking up Love Affair, Miller's Crossing, and Written On The Wind.
As for commentaries, I'm surprised when Criterion has a commentary anymore. I don't think it's laziness as much as a deliberate decision they made a few years ago to move away from commentaries in favor of an interview...
Thanks to the recent criterion.com sale, this might be the first time that I don't have to run over to my local Barnes and Noble on the day the sale starts.
I'm in a position where since I'm buying Citizen Kane and Menace II Society, I feel like I might as well spend the little bit of extra dough and get the UHD. Where the price will make a difference to me is in rebuying titles I've already got on Blu-ray. I love Mulholland Dr. so Criterion has my...
If it's a movie from the last 30 years and IF it's something that they've already released, I think it must be a Wes Anderson movie or Mulholland Drive or maybe Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.
I have to imagine that of any movie they've got lined up, Citizen Kane must be their safest bet for releasing a UHD disc. I don't think Criterion is going to suddenly go wild and start re-releasing huge swaths of their catalog in 4K (I can always dream for a UHD of Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls...
As far as I know, no. I think the only disc releases were a DVD that Xenon did about 15 or 20 years ago and Vinegar Syndrome did a Blu-ray/DVD combo release about 5 years ago.
And Vinegar Syndrome has it currently listed as sold out. I don't know if that means that it's out of print or they just don't have it in stock at the moment but maybe it means that Criterion picked up the rights.
I've got a lot of experience in collecting limited edition stuff and I'd really recommend that anyone that wants any of these newly OOP discs wait until this immediate round of panic buying dies down before buying it on eBay. Usually, the price shoots through the roof and shortly after, it comes...
Not like I can say this with authority but I'd think that Parallax or any movie would be available for at least a year (and probably far longer) before their licensing deal is up.
