No I get all that. My point is you’re paying for HBO and if you’re unhappy with it why not cancel your DirecTV subscription of it? Not trying to be argumentative just curious.

Ha. I thought Skull Island was by far the worst of the bunch. The only things I liked about it were the effects and John C Reilly’s performance.

Watched the opening of WW84. Looked and sounded terrific in Dolby Vision and Atmos. Thanks HBO MAX!!

Upon further inspection of all three versions (HBO Max, iTunes, DVD) I agree now that the HBO Max version looks the best. It has better colors and more resolution. I’d be curious to know definitively if a remaster was done and how. I stand corrected.

I was going by memory regarding the dvd looking better than the iTunes stream. I’ll compare more later and see if I agree with you Robert since We have the same OLED.

I disagree. It’s the same SD transfer imo unfortunately. Not restored in any way. Looks the same. Just ok. Edited to add imo.

Yeah. Definitely not restored (edit.imo.) The DVD actually looks the best uprezzed on our LG OLED.

Just sampled Mr Roberts and while it looks good, I think it’s just an up conversion of the SD version. Yup...just compared it to the iTunes SD stream and it’s virtually the same. :(

Mr. Roberts is a bonafide classic and one of my favorites of all time. This Monday marks the anniversary of the passing of my wife’s dad, who served in the navy during the Korean war. Mr. Roberts is his favorite film. It has become a tradition to watch it yearly to honor him and I’ve already...

Man I wish By Dawns Early Light was available. It’s an HBO film. A terrific nuclear war thriller starring Powers Boothe, Rebecca DeMornay and Martin Landau. I have it on DVD and rewatch it often. It’s tremendously powerful.

And me too. I own them all. They’re still shrink wrapped as I haven’t had a chance to watch them yet.

Happy surprise that the Studio Ghibli films are available. In Japanese too.

There’s always some startup glitches. It’ll resolve itself I’m sure.

The lack of 4K content is the only bummer for me right now. But I read somewhere they will be rolling it out over the next year. I mean it’s the standard now for every streaming service to offer at least some 4K content.
