Dances With Wolves is in my top 10 films of all time. And definitely a Western.
I’ve been revisiting some of the films in this thread as it’s been years since I’ve seen them. Some only for second time.

Thinking back on all the classic westerns I’ve seen over the years since I started this thread, I would say my favorite decade is the 50’s. We need more westerns like the ones made in those years.

I thought this was a terrific western. I am really becoming a big fan of Randolph Scott. He has a unique presence in his westerns. Definitely one of the best I’ve seen in a long time.

I disagree completely. The Coen Brothers version of True Grit (which is more faithful to the book) is magnificent and at least as good as the Wayne version imo.

So I rewatched SHANE a while back and I enjoyed everything about it more than the previous two times I watched it.
The story, cinematography, sound and especially the performances finally clicked with me. Don’t know why but perhaps having watched...
I’ve only seen 16 of these films. Shows you how many great westerns there are considering how many I’ve seen (over 100) since I started this thread over 5 years ago.
I really really liked this classic western. Much more than I thought I would. It has a familiar plot but it still works. It even had some Abbott and Costello stars in John Payne and Dick Foran.
Terrible iTunes transfer but still terrifically entertaining and totally satisfying.
