I get that. It’s an oft repeated criticism of the film. But every Titanic film previously made already did that. I applaud him for taking a different approach. Whether he succeeded or not is obviously a matter of personal opinion. But that $1.8 billion gross worldwide sure seems to imply that he...

For instance I have a friend who got sole screenplay credit for a successful film and not one word of the dialog was his.

Imo, People keep getting hung up on the misconception that a screenplay is all about dialog. It is not.

I don’t think you are getting my point. A screenplay can have zero dialog. It’s about structure. That’s what I mean by his screenplays are strong.

Again there’s a difference between dialog and screenplay. Cameron’s screenplays are strong while I agree his dialog is sometimes weak.

You really think Cameron doesn’t value writing?? I think he loves writing as much as he loves directing.

Not true. After that one “throwaway line” you followed it up on a subsequent post with this: “Cameron's movie was a piece of overrated junk that I wouldn't ever want to sit through again with its awful cliche-ridden fictional story (as bad as if not worse than the junk in the 96 CBS miniseries...

Ok. Perhaps agenda is the wrong word. Bias is better. He obviously knows his Titanic stuff but his clear dislike of Cameron’s film is apparent.
