No, as I mentioned earlier. I received my entire order (10 titles in total) with the exception of You And Me.

Re: You And Me. I left a message on their customer support site. Hopefully I'll get a response soon.

Has anyone who ordered You And Me in KL's recent sale either received their copy or notice of it being shipped yet? I'm just wondering if I should contact KL or just wait ..... but for how long?

Well, I called KL's customer support line and left a message and they called back to say that You And Me is on backorder and my copy would be sent as soon as a new shipment arrives. Still, I have 9 other titles in the shipment to watch so i can wait. Actually, I'm glad they didn't hold up the...

It was not listed on the enclosed packing list but is on the order number under my account at the KL website. The title in question is You And Me with George Raft and Sylvia Sidney.

Just received my order from this KL sale on Saturday! Terrific ..... except one item is missing with no notification that it will be coming later, it's out of stock, out of print etc. Now I have to go through the hassle of contacting them to find out why it wasn't included in the order. :(

Upgrading from DVD to a HD format (either blu or UHD) is a personal thing. I still have many titles on DVD that I'm satisfied with the picture quality and don't have the inclination to upgrade. I'm living on a fixed income and don't have deep pockets so when I'm upgrading there are factors I...

Columbia is another studio that often recycled its scores. An example is Screaming Mimi (1958) with Anita Ekberg which doesn't have a credited score but uses Leonard Bernstein's score to On The Waterfront. Reputedly, this was why Bernstein never again composed a film score after OTW. He didn't...

Golden Boy, I Am The Law and Storm Center are Columbia titles but yes, the remaining titles are Paramount.

Unlikely part of a Paramount deal since On The Beach was a United Artists film and under an MGM deal.

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

Yes, it's from Via Vision and the Paramount logo and copyright are on the package. I have blu rays of The Carpetbaggers and Harlow so I've never watched the DVDs in this set. Sylvia and But Not For Me are watchable but their transfers leave much to be desired. I'm happy to have those two titles...

Actually, it has been released on DVD in Australia but in the full frame format rather than anamorphic. It's part of Carroll Baker: The Paramount Collection. In addition to Sylvia, it includes The Carpetbaggers, Harlow and But Not For Me.

Very excited about the Paramount deal. But I hope that most of the titles aren't just upgrades from previous DVD releases, you know, the usual suspects but instead movies making their R1 disc debuts: About Mrs. Leslie (1954) Alaska Seas (1954) Amorous Adventures Of Moll Flanders (1965) Beau...

Zero Mostel was one of those stage performers who didn't transition well to film. On stage, he was wonderful but he was simply too much on screen. It worked for the film version of A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum because that was essentially burlesque. Fiddler On The Roof dealt...

I'd love to see The Wild And The Innocent (1959) with Audie Murphy plus Sandra Dee, Gilbert Roland and Joanne Dru. It's never been released on DVD in the U.S. and European releases have always been P&S and it's a CinemaScope film. Add Destry and Tumbleweed and it's a day one purchase for me!

Rock Hudson? Tony Curtis? Jeff Chandler? I'm open for any of the three as there are several of their Universal films still not available that I want.

Would have been nice if KL had paired it with the sequel Bonzo Goes To College (1952) for a double feature.

You remember incorrectly! It is indeed anamorphic (even says so on the back jacket ;)). The picture looks good. Not sure I like the movie enough to upgrade to blu.

My own KL wish list from the new Sony deal: Barabbas (1962) Anthony Quinn, Jack Palance. Black Knight (1954) Alan Ladd, Patricia Medina. Death Of A Salesman (1951) Fredric March, Mildred Dunnock. Diamond Head (1963) Charlton Heston, Yvette Mimieux. Divorce American Style (1967) Dick Van Dyke...

Crosby isn't well regarded by the non geriatric nostalgia crowd. He's no Frank Sinatra! I suspect Blue Skies got a KL release because of Fred Astaire, not Crosby and The Emperor Waltz is a Billy Wilder film so there's some appeal to the Wilder fanboys and "auteur" crowd. I don't recall KL saying...

Another disappointing transfer on a Universal western. Like Horizons West, Gun For A Coward is an erratic transfer. Sharp and clean in some scenes, soft and out of focus in others. :( I was so looking forward to the upcoming KL release of The Last Sunset but I'll now wait on reviews. I think...

I just took a look at Horizons West which I got in the recent KL sale and I must say I'm disappointed in the transfer. It's erratic going from sharp and clarity in one scene to soft and out of focus in the next. I upgraded from the German DVD which frankly looked better overall :(

I too placed an order from KL immediately upon their Shocktober announcement. Two days later, I placed another order. The first order was delivered in a week but the second seems to be shipment processing limbo.

You stretched it and it played beautifully? I've never seen a stretched image look good. It distorts the picture. I recall watching Black Narcissus with my sister and the image was stretched and she commented how short David Farrar was for a leading man. I replied that it was the stretched image...

Bryan and Oliver, well, I'm glad "that" site has some fans as usually it gets dumped on by the group here. Movies are short hand for motion pictures, emphasis on motion. That is how they are meant to be seen. A screen grab/screen cap is a still, not a movie and I've seen more than my share of...
