I have an import DVD with the Republic Logo at the beginning , it's a French release from Bach Films. It's the best DVD I've seen for picture quality of the film. But it has forced French subs. I used to have the Alpha Video DVD but that was unwatchable so I imported the French release oui oui !
Id like to suggest The Great Flamarion since its with Republic and a classic horror set with Pharaohs Curse, The Flame Barrier and some other title that would fit in with these two. I really hope KL can come through here!
May looks great with some sets of interest ( Sci-Fi and William Powell), I cant wait !
I bought Leviathan and the UHD kept freezing on me, and I decided to buy a new UHD player as the freezing I think has to do with the age and use of my player. My current one is 5 years old, and I felt this...
I wound buying the Kino release of He Walked by Night. The reviews are so positive that I had to get it !
Target is having a buy 1 get 1 for 50% off - so I grabbed it + an item from my "Favorites" and got a really good deal ( in todays economy for movies anyway!)
Im hoping Kino could license Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and give it a 4K UHD release. Im surprised no one has licensed it from Paramount unless it's on the no list like the John Wayne films
I watched Ronin and was impressed, it looks tremendous in 4k!
Will Penny on Blu-ray also looked fantastic. The Mr. Wong Collection was also excellent - a couple of the movies had some film element issues but overall the Wong movies looked and sounded excellent !
Yes I meant Canary, Greene and Benson Murder Case(s) - not the ones with Warner. They are in black market purgatory ! If the Mr Wong movies can receive Blu-ray releases, than so can the Philo Vance films with William Powell, which are better !
Should be fun times when Kino starts to announce the...
KL also said there are
Four silent films, one double feature, two standalone releases. One 1910s and three 1920s.
There are five 1930s film being released for the first time on BD
Plus, here is the breakdown of the number of titles per decade. ((all of this info is from KL))
1910s x 1
1920s x 5...
Winchester 73 is most likely with Criterion, there was a quote a long time ago from KL saying they asked for it and it wasn't available. The reason it hasn't come out yet is because Criterion is more or less sitting on it. It might even be on the back burner because they are releasing titles in...
Per Kino in another forum : " We also asked for Desperate Hours, but it wasn't available. Either with another label or to be released by the studio "
This made me more likely to get the Imprint box set UNLESS a US label / Paramount themselves announces it before the end of August
Just wanted...
I am 100% interested in that Imprint Noir Collection with those four movies, but with Kino's deal with Paramount, they may have the same titles. I hope by August 31st Kino will shed some light aka announce / deny titles from that Noir collection. This is where it gets conflicting. I usually...
As much as I like upgrading Blu-ray titles to UHD, I really would like to see some DVDs getting first time Blu-ray releases. Young Sherlock Holmes is another title Id love to finally hit HD.
Definitely excited about what's coming down the pike!
Kino just signed a new deal with Paramount
"We just signed a new Paramount deal. I can't share any details till later, it includes 65 new titles, 3 Paramount renewals and 3 CBS renewals, 71 in total."
I hope for The Shootist, Bad Company, Will Penny, and Destination Inner Space off the top of...
No, The Angry Red Planet and Reptilicus were Scream Factory Blu-ray releases.
Ever since Kino released Tentacles Ive hoped for a solo release of Reptilicus but I think a box set with the three films might be better ! :D
I was thinking of a really cool box set that I hope Kino might consider, an IB Melchoir Box set with Journey to the Seventh Planet, Reptilicus and The Angry Red Planet ! All with 4K masters (or 2K at the very least)
Make it happen Kino :)
So much for the Chan films on this wave of MGM deals. But maybe one of those four 50s films is Pharaohs Curse which would be new to Blu-ray :D
Looking forward to all the announcements coming from this new deal
Thanks for the clarification, I knew I was close ! :D I didnt quote the actual post since its several pages back and lost among the dreaded slipcover debate. It's still a great wealth of titles :)
Elsewhere aka on another forum the KL rep said that they were working on new MGM, Universal and other deals for 2023 as they still have over 50 or 60 titles to announce this year along with another 50+ announced without release dates.
Since Kino is working on a deal with MGM, I will ask again request
The Charlie Chan films from the Chanthology set
Pharaohs Curse
The Flame Barrier
Maybe the latter two could be part of a Sci-Fi B set like the Edgar Ulmer one ! :)
I picked up their Film Noir Dark Side of Cinema 5 and thought all three films were decent. The Midnight Story with Tony Curtis to me was the best of the bunch. Outside the Law was also good, with the second half being the most compelling. I thought Because of You was also decent - and somewhat...
Now that KL has a deal with Sony, I just remembered The Whistler films - I hope KL can license these. I know Sony remastered them years ago on DVD, not sure if they did HD masters, but Id love a box set of those films ! :)
In case KL reads these posts which Im sure he does....
Could you guys possibly splurge for a Blu-ray of Day of the Triffids. I know Michael Hyatt wants a lot of money for it. Could you see if he might change his price for it or negotiate with him? It's a "Crime of the Century" that this movie...
