I wonder what factors have made me “lucky” on this thread. I have many discs mentioned here, but so far none have been defective. About 1/3 of my early collection was bough in the Toronto area, 1/3 bought in the Buffalo area and the other 1/3 are burned copies from the library or TCM. — of...
I actually (though Canadian), try to purchase discs on the US. At my age, without the extra language, the printed English is larger and easier for me to read. The only problem, is the free digital download from s US disc does not work in CND.
I am finding, however, that although I often check...
I hate to jinx myself, but I have a really huge collection of DVDs and Blu rays, a lot of which were bought in Canada or the Buffalo area, including ones mentioned as not playing here, and never found one that had problems. My Warner Archive also all play perfectly.
I may just be lucky. They all...
I have a few of these sets, and knock on my head, but they have all been OK. They were either purchased in Canada, or the Buffalo area, so perhaps they are from a different pressing plant.
I bought the individual DVDs of the Astaire/Rogers movies, and was distressed to discover later, that if...
At the dawn of the DVD age, “my friend” bought a legal copy of a program which removed copy protection from discs. He borrowed the majority of the discs mentioned in this thread over a number of years from the public library. His copies of these discs still play like brand new, even on the...
I do not have a lot of Warners titles. Most of my DVDs of movies from the classic era are recorded from TCM, but I do have some commercial releases. I often check any that appear in this thread and haven't had a problem yet. (I am knocking on my head as I say this!) All my discs from the early...
As a Canadian, it’s hard for me to accept that we would have a substandard plant here. I know when I worked at Chrysler going to University, the Canadian plants always were named the most efficient etc. in the company.
Is it possible these discs were not distributed everywhere? I buy almost everything from Amazon.com and have them set to my P.O. box in Buffalo. Touch a lumber yard, but I have yet to have a problem with the titles mentioned.
This is almost exactly what I do. I always intend to watch them again, “as soon as I finish watching the new ones I buy and make”, but this never seems to happen, and I have been retired for 9 years. The same was true with my VHS and Beta collections.
When I switched over to Blu ray, and double...
