One has to face facts that despite having the voices of some of the original actors and some good writing, what you basically have is cheap Saturday morning crap made to sell Post and Kelloge products to children, while they play with their cars on the floor in front of the TV.
I was about 10. My parents were riveted to the TV, watching the crisis unfold. I was acting like an idiot bopping a balloon on the ceiling. Finally my dad shouted "SIT DOWN, THIS COULD BE THE END OF THE WORLD!"
As a completest, I have watched every iteration of Star Trek, and bought all the discs. I know various strikes have buggered up the schedule, but do we have any dates for the return of “Discovery etc.”?
Is this thread devoted to the original series only? The minutiae of the first 3 years of each episode is all that seem to be discussed here. What about the hundreds of other shows from other Star Treks?
I am a collector. Years ago I committed myself to acquiring all Star Trek shows on disc. This I did a few years ago, and replaced everything available with blu Ray. Now with all the new trek shows, I am going bankrupt!! — I also collect “The Walking Dead” but that’s another matter’
Those “Buck Rogers” parodies are actually my absolute favourites. As I have said before, the Holodeck needs to be recalled by the manufacturer. Every time it is used it seems the universe is in peril.
My collection of media over the years seem to run the same course. I don't know about others, but I am still continually selling or discarding older formats as I replace with new. My gigantic VHS collection has been of course reduced to zero, as has my audio cassette and LP collection. I am...
I always wanted all the 5 Star Trek series on DVD, but they were WAY too pricy here in Canada. I retired a couple of years before my wife, and besides being the “house husband”, I took on the task of gradually borrowing all the episodes of every season of every Star Trek series from the public...
All you have to do is retire and you suddenly have a closet full of clothes you don’t need. I was looking for a pair of pants to wear when I reached back in my closet to find I had 15 pairs of “going out” black jeans and dress pants, two of which still had tags on them.
I wonder if anyone is considering putting the work that was done in developing Star Trek Phase 2 to use. They seem to be mining every era of Star Trek “history”.
We just finished season 2 episode 1 of “Picard”. I was delighted by the explanations given as to why the 2 immortal beings changed their appearance. This only took a few minutes and was elegantly simple and was much better than the walking waxwork that was Data last season.
For me, and I'm old enough to have seen each Star Trek show and spin off in first run, "Picard" and "Discovery" fall in the wonderful tradition of all the other Trek shows. They are the only shows we watch right when they are broadcast.
"Lower Decks" has grown on me. You don't give up on Trek...
As Douglas Adams would say:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a...
We were a Beta family. "Luckily" so was the school board I worked for. I used to borrow a 5 tonne Sony, (a top load with wood grain all around), and bring it home to connect with my own 5 tonne machine, to edit out commmercials.
Some of these tapes were even transfered to VHS when I made the...
It's too bad the animation is so stilted and pathetic for these animated shows of the 1970s. They have some of the best Science Fiction writers, and a lot of the original actors from the live action series. For some reason, when I replaced my DVDs with blus, I enjoyed the episodes more. It would...
Perhaps it’s because I am not religious, but I never warmed to DS9. The prophets, Sisco, etc. — I found very dull. I would much prefer the show to be called “Quarks”, since the plots involving the bar were the only ones to come alive for me.
Again, people no longer are watching the show, but only the TV image. I remember when there was no home video, and TOS was the only game in town and people watched the shows over and over. A stand up comedian remarked that you had to look for new things each time. He said "I can see a run in...
I thought the cast, crew, script, and direction of these "Kelvin" movies were excellent, and have seen them at the theatre, and owned the series. My biggest disappointment with these IS the alternate time line. I see why they did this and it doesn't prevent me from seeing them, but it really...
I saw all the original Star Trek shows in first run on my parents 21” B&W tv. I am basically thrilled with the new effects now, and never watch the originals. Of course, I seem to be the only person who also prefers the re-giggered Star Wars movies! 😮
