I'm in again. Maybe this time I will succeed since I'm unemployed and have quite a bit more time on my hands. (Trying to find the silver lining, here.)
My final viewings for this year's challenge. I watched The Invisible Ray (1936). Another good Karloff / Lugosi pairing with both giving strong performances. And finally, there was a story in my Facebook feed from the AMIA about the Roy Spence films on the Irish Film Institute website...
Tonight at work, I watched a few episodes of The Addams Family on YouTube.
The Addams Family Tree
Halloween with the Addams Family
Green-Eyed Gomez
The Addams Family Meet the VIPs
I love this show and it still holds up for me. It was my first favorite show as a kid and Gomez was my first TV...
Today I watched The Raven (1935). Lugosi is spectacularly creepy as the mad scientist and Karloff manages to elicit sympathy in a fairly thankless role.
Trying to get a few in during the last few days. I watched The Black Cat (1934) when I got home from work in the morning. I am truly amazed that much of it made it past the Production Code. Great performances from both Karloff and Lugosi.
Laundry definitely took a back seat to movies this week. ;)
I saw The Addams Family on Wednesday, in 3D. There 3D effects were good with a few great pop outs and overall nice depth. It's a kid's movie for sure, with a nice lesson about bullying and for the grown-ups some digs at the Home...
It's been a busy couple of weeks. I have had a chance to see a few things at the theatre recently.
Rear Window (1954) - Top tier Hitchcock. Not really horror, but pretty terrifying toward the end. I highly recommend seeing it on a big screen. There is so much going on and so much detail in...
Day 2 - I had other things that needed to be done today, so I only managed three more cartoons.
Midnight Frolics (1938) A Columbia Color Rhapsody. The color was not great and the plot was thin, but I did like the transparent effect used in the animation of the ghosts.
Studie No. 8 (1931)...
I'm a bit pressed for time today, so I thought I'd start off the month with some Halloween themed cartoons. I acquired these from Steve Stanchfield's Thunderbean series. He puts out some great rare animation for collectors.
I watched:
Hallowe'en (1931) A rare Toby the Pup cartoon. It has...
