    Ozzie & Harriet

Thanks for the update, John! This is indeed potentially good news. My perspective is that sharing these updates is a good thing as it keeps the project in front of potential buyers and is free publicity for Sam that keeps whatever buzz there is on this project alive.

Not surprising that this fizzled. Sam's heart was in the right place but he was clearly over his head from the get go. This project needed a deep pocketed label backer which he reportedly rebuffed at one point. It's a shame because the results could have been spectacular if done the right way.

Thanks, John! "Inter-family developments" don't sound promising and hint at squabbles over estate issues. Hopefully those will get resolved if not already.

    Ozzie & Harriet

A shame if this is truly dead but hardly a surprise. Sam was in over his head from day 1. Had the last 5 years been spent releasing these via a partnership with a major distributor a chunk of the series could have been released by now.

    Ozzie & Harriet

Thanks, John, for the update. Sad to say, but barring Sam getting a huge cash infusion, this project probably isn't going to end like anyone hoped. There are another 12 seasons (350+ episodes) to go and his update makes it sound like this is going to be an amateur hour project.

    Ozzie & Harriet

Thanks for the update, John. It is much appreciated. I agree with you and Gary about the slower than expected progress (while hoping for the best). I was hoping Sam would say how many episodes have been transferred in the video but if he did I missed it. UCLA is a terrific facility but they...

    Ozzie & Harriet

Thanks, John! If Sam can pull this off in two years that would be an incredible accomplishment. It would take CBS/P at least 14 years and 28 half season releases to pull that off

    Ozzie & Harriet

Has there been any updates from Sam Nelson on this project?

    Ozzie & Harriet

I want this project to succeed, but Danny is right. This project is going to cost a lot more than $50k. Put another way, if it truly was just $130 to put an episode on DVD the studios would be putting a lot more product out there. Heck, the whole run of Gunsmoke would be out by now...

    Ozzie & Harriet

Thanks for the continued updates, John. Regardless of how the ultimately plays out I will give Sam Nelson a lot of credit for the drive and inititive he's showing here. It's mighty impressive and as Gary and others have said before, having a well placed advocate for a particular...

    Ozzie & Harriet

John, thanks for linking to the interview with Sam Nelson. It was a very entertaining read. Glad to read the nice things said about Mark Harmon. From that article it does appear that things are perhaps a bit further along than what the kickstarter video suggests. I hope that's the case...

    Ozzie & Harriet

I still wish Sam and the Nelson family the best of success with this, but continue to hope they're not underestimating the cost of this. $130 per episode just isn't realistic. In addition to Danny's comments above, I found the following posted on the Steve Hoffman forums by Marc Wielage who...

    Ozzie & Harriet

Agreed and thanks again, John. However I have a concern: Doesn't the $56k figure seem really, really low for that many episodes? That's less than $130 per episode. From what Danny and others have posted I would have expected this to be much higher. This kind of budget also...
