Ron,
VAT is Value Added Tax. International orders are not charged it, so you can take 20 percent off the item price when you order from Amazon.co.uk.
My DVD was cheap, hence the shipping was expensive relative to the cost of the DVD. £3.08 is not bad for shipping, roughly $5 USD...
Ron, my last order with Amazon.co.uk was for a single DVD, and the shipping was £3.08 (half the cost of the DVD, mind you, after VAT was removed from the tally).
Toy Story 3 looks fantastic, and it loses little going from theatrical 3D to home 2D. My only gripe is that they used the 2D Pixar intro where "Pixar" is in a straight line, instead of the 3D logo where "Pixar" rotates. I guess we'll have to wait for the 3D blu-ray to see that again.

The Sound of Music is a classic. It even has Nazi zombies. Oh wait, that was Dead Snow. But there are Nazis.
This blu-ray absolutely blows the DVD away. I have not seen all the Oscar-winning best pictures, but this is definitely one to see. The songs are catchy, the Austrian visuals are...
Today has been a big release day. I first went out to Best Buy to pick up the BB exclusive edition of Band on the Run CD/DVD. Then I dashed to Target to pick up their exclusive edition of The Sound of Music on blu-ray. When I got home, UPS showed up early with Toy Story 3, The Bridge on the...
Look no further than this very forum in the HD section, and the two threads there. At first RAH only reviewed the packaging, and complained about it. Someone then posted pictures of how to remove the discs from the packaging, then someone posted the official Universal diagram explaining how to...
Extraction of the discs from the packaging really is that bad. I've ordered a replacement case, and will not watch the discs until I can put them in it. (I guess I can watch the digital copies, but they are on the iPad...not exactly the best viewing option.)
I sure have heard of Machete. It's one of the trailers in Grindhouse.
I'll see it on blu-ray. My next theatrical movie will either be Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, or The Social Network.
It's Kismet.
Xanadu is a guilty pleasure of mine. Last time I checked, it's on my DVR. I've even seen the Broadway musical based on the movie. Fake Australian accents and Electric Light Orchestra songs performed live. Can't go wrong with that.
I used to cassette tape Bond movies off of TV back when they aired in the U.S. exclusively on ABC.
And I still have the Star Trek fotonovels, well 3 of them at least.
Guilty as charged. I was a moderator here after my DVD site closed.
According to Wikipedia, the Wilhelm Scream was named for the movie you mention, but it came from a movie two years earlier. Here's a small sampler of the effect being used:
Last week, I saw Avatar: Special...
Long time lurker, first time poster.
In all my years in Tulsa, I never made it to the Admiral Twin. I do have fond memories, however, of the single-screen theaters that either closed or were split into twins or quadruples, like the Continental, Southroads, or Mann Fox. I even remember...
