Chris. When purchasing a DVD Drive for a HTPC is there anything particular to look for. I don't need a DVD Burner just a DVD drive since my burner is on my desktop. One thing though is it looks like my burner is a Lite-On DVD+RW so I'm assuming I would need a DVD Drive that can play DVD+R's...

Alright here's what I'm going to order for my Processor and MB. I figuring at least a week or 2 to get everything I need and have it built. http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...103-501&DEPA=1 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...128-274&depa=1...
Well I start my HTPC this week based on WMCE 2005. Right now I have WMCE 2005 on my Desktop which I haved played around with for the last 3 weeks without activating and feel that going the HTPC route with the Media Center software is the way to go for me. Since I haven't activated WMCE 2005 on...
My own Home Movies. I added actors as my family members in "Edit Collection". I just wanted to link a picture to them like you can do with real actors on a real movie's in "Edit Collection"
Chris, On home movies in WMCE 2005 in the Edit Movies section. When I add actors is there a way to add pictures from "My Pictures" Its looking for XML File and all my pictures are JPEG's. Any idea on how to do this?
Nvidia DVD Decoder is what you are looking for. 30 Day free Trial and then I think it runs $19.99 or $29.99 depending on what package you want. http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder_1.00.67.html
Chris what type of cases have you tested? I'm looking to put together a HTPC within the next 2 weeks and I was looking at the Silverstone Lascala SST-LC03 Case. Any other suggestions for a case or is the silverstone my best bet. I just found a sit that adds a "My Movies" Category into WMCE...
I thought the Hi-Def camcorders from JVC had the capability. I might be wrong. My Sony I have now has Dolby Digital capability which is really nice. I ripped my DVD home movie from my Sony Camcorder Mini DVD via Nero Digital onto my hard drive and then burned it onto another DVD and it plays...
There are camcorders that have DTS capability. I have taken one of my home movies and copied into Nero Digital, when I go into Media Center it sees the Video but says it is unable to play. Any ideas?
Chris, can you give me a link link on info on how to do this? Transfer VOB to MP4 and Divx? And how is the Video and Audio Quality on these formats? Thanks
I basically want to take home movies and rip them to my hard drive and then use "My Video" on WMCE 2005 to pull these up on my T.V to watch. There has to be a way to do this or why would WMCE 2005 have a My Video Category? I'm not using an extender just straight PC to TV.
Is there software that will take my movies and put them on my hardrive that I can then use Media center to watch. i have tried DVD Shrink but Media center is not seeing the movies in my folders.
JonE, do you know if you can rip movies with say dvdshrink (My home movies of course) to you hard drive and then view via an Media Center extender? I have seen mixed statements on whether this is possible or not. I think WMCE 2005 is very nice and has some very cool features.
