    I've got a new dog!

Except for the recent "accident", my dog is as gentle as they come. I'll tease her, play with her, she growls and barks, but she knows it's playtime. I'll stick my fingers in her mouth and nothing, she just knows not to bite down. The pit-bull I took care of for three months, big difference...

    I've got a new dog!

I think maybe since Saturday it has finally come to an end, no bleeding for almost five hours, let's hope it stays that way. Can possibly avoid an ER visit although I admit I put it off way to long. Now the dog's back to her favorite chair, don't think she'll try that dark spot again.

    I've got a new dog!

They're great until they try to kill you, just kidding. Dog was sleeping in a new spot she found, room was dark, stepped on her, she yelped, stood up and knocked me into the back of my couch. Cut my face in a few spots and OMG, the blood coming out of my nose was unbelievable. Bathroom sink was...

    I've got a new dog!

Took a walk this morning (without my dog), Two dogs were running loose. A large cocker spaniel type of mix and a little Chihuahua came up to me because they were really excited. Some people passing by in a truck stopped to help, thinking I was being attacked. I was fine, the dogs ran off, but so...

    I've got a new dog!

Brave dogs. Mine is a total wimp. Rain, snow, to cold outside, she does her business and is right back in the house. When it's warmer, she'll sleep on the back porch, but usually she wants to be inside, snoozing in her favorite chair..

    I've got a new dog!

Definitely getting a harness. Hired a guy to take her on walks because of my knee issues, but she needs more control than a basic collar. She can easily slip out of it when she wants to. Dogs can be a lot smarter than you'd imagine. Thankfully she doesn't really go anywhere, usually just a few...

    I've got a new dog!

My crazy black lab escaped today. Luckily she doesn't wander to far. Got her leash and was able to catch her just two houses away. It's amazing how strong a dog can be. Just opened the front door to go visit a neighbor and I couldn't stop her. Tied her to my neighbor's front railing when I did...

    I've got a new dog!

That's what everybody seems to be hinting at. Was out this morning, another guy was walking his black lab, totally well behaved and calm, just a leash and the basic neck collar. I'd have this crazy, uncontrollable freak if tried that. ;) Got her at two months old, thought I trained her well...

    I've got a new dog!

Re-awakening an old post, but I'm going to try something like this. Slipped on ice and broke my wrist in January, Wow, that is amazingly painful. Still recovering, orthopedic surgeon appointment Wednesday, Anyhow, good exercise for me and my dog to get out and walk. Regular leash and collar...

    I've got a new dog!

Kylie is fine, no vet visit. Is there a temporary "dog flu" that might be going around? She's kept inside or in my backyard. Only outside contacts are the neighbor's dogs (Akita and a Pug), separated by a fence but they're friendly. She's totally back to normal, running, playing, eating of course.

    I've got a new dog!

It was human shampoo, one of those little hotel bottles from when I used to travel a lot while I was working. Never even occurred to me that could harm her. Definitely dog shampoo from now on. And Mike, I will take her to the vet. Just in case something's going on so I'll get her checked out.

    I've got a new dog!

I thought I was going to lose my lab Kylie. Maybe me giving her a bath caused it? She almost stopped functioning the past two days. Slept in spots she's never used before, she was just to weak to jump onto the bed or her favorite chair. No eating or drinking water. I'd go to pet her and she...

    I've got a new dog!

So true. Broken wrist. Bad knee, had three operations, now they want to replace it. Not fair getting old and having your parts start to fail :( I'm only 57, it's not like I'm 95, then it's more expected.

    I've got a new dog!

We do have a couple of similar places, I'm just temporarily without a car, broke the rear axle when I slid off an icy road. She'd probably love a Shampoodle place. Very social, thoroughly enjoys meeting new people and other dogs. Kind of scary. I think she'd go home with anybody she came...

    I've got a new dog!

Well it was bath time today for Kylie the black lab. Wow, what a chore. Normally wait until the weather is warmer so she can shake it off outside, but it was time, just getting a little to "doggy" in the odor department. Reading through this thread just got me in the mood. She's actually really...

    I've got a new dog!

That allergy things can be a pain. I'm mildly allergic, only if I'm sleeping and my dog lays on my face does it really affect me. Trust me, dogs have no manners, I'm just a pillow to plop down on if needed. Used to have a lady clean my house, but she was allergic to cats and dogs. Guess who...

    I've got a new dog!

I was adopted :D Way back in 1960 and I turned out Okay, glad I wasn't returned. Wrong thread, but actually in the mood to get a couple of cats. They're easy, very low maintenance, but always a gamble. Will they be loving, cuddly cats or aloof, I refuse to acknowledge you even exist little jerks.

    I've got a new dog!

I understand what you're saying. Unlike a lot of people, I kept these dogs for several months, giving them time to adjust, but it just didn't work. I'll do it again, I love dogs and if I can help one out, it's worth it.

    I've got a new dog!

Don't want to come off as Mr. Negativity here, but adopting doesn't always work. Took in a pit-bull after the owner passed away. Kept him for several months, absolutely wonderful. Got along with me and my black lab, but he'd always attack my cat. Thankfully she had a basement she could shelter...

    I've got a new dog!

Stanley? That's my official name :D Free to choose whatever we want, I named my lab after Kylie Minogue. Just seemed proper at the time. My cat is named Olivia, after Olivia Newton-John, must have an attraction to Aussies :)

    I've got a new dog!

I've never tried a harness, I'll give it a shot. Tried those horrible "choke chain" spiky things, absolutely worthless. Maybe with a harness I can get my dog under control. She just gets so excited to see new people, other dogs, new surroundings, it's really tough to deal with her. Used to take...

    I've got a new dog!

I've tried, but she's so rambunctious and excited around other dogs, never worked. Hard to even take her for a walk. 70 lbs. of pure muscle, she's really strong. And food? OMG, not a chance she'd wait, biggest pig in the world, she inhales everything edible she comes across. She even eats one...

    I've got a new dog!

Amazing how well behaved they are. My black lab Kylie would be running, jumping, playing with the other dogs. Maybe just bad training (as in no training) when I got her. Gets along great with the neighbor's dogs, an Akita and a pug/Chihuahua mix, very playful friends, but would never sit still...

    I've got a new dog!

Do golden retrievers get grey? My black lab is only seven and it's very noticeable, on her paws and around her snout. Looks like a couple of pictures show some aging with yours, but hard to tell.

    I've got a new dog!

I'll try and get some photos of Kylie, but she's a black lab, total freak, even at seven, still a puppy so hard to photograph. She's an absolute angel. Got her at two months old. Totally house-broken the day I brought her home, never took any training, she just went to the back-door when she...

    I've got a new dog!

Kylie, my black lab got a bath yesterday. Extremely hot here in the NW so a good time for her twice a year bath. She is so weird. She knew it was bath time and jumped right into the tub, she loves it. Once I washed her, wrapped a towel around her, let her loose in the back yard, kept the house...

    I've got a new dog!

Can't believe you got those poses. My lab, seven years old now is still like a puppy, she wont sit still for anything. I take her out for walks and envy the people who have nice well behaved dogs with them. Mine is pulling and tugging, always wanting to check everything out. Tried one of those...

    I've got a new dog!

Mine has never made a mess in the house, or her crate (didn't trust for the first few months if I wasn't home). She came home with me, barely two months old, stood by the back door when it was time and just waited. I could tell she needed to go and let her out. Never once did anything inside...

    I've got a new dog!

Petey will find something he likes, hopefully not anything major like furniture, clothes or shoes. Friend had a retriever who literally ate through the drywall in her kitchen, very expensive repair. I got lucky, the worst thing mine has done was chew up a pillow and some books, hard-cover and...
