i didnt think it was Christian's ghost ever because he didn die on the island. All the ghosts that have appeared with whispers were those who died on the island and are "trapped".

I have taken it so far that Jacob has only ever appeared as himself and all appearances of Christian are MiB. Some dead people appearing are however the trapped souls on the island like Michael. IMO, Widmore's motivation has always been to get back to the island and control it. In Season 4...

I for one am happy if they dont explain much more about the island itself and how it works. I think that is the mystical element that is best left as it is largely. I more interested in the characters anyway and I think thats certainly what the writers are focusing on.

I doubt this would work - the flashbacks are often intended to inform what the character is doing and the episodes have a theme. Dont get me wrong I think some of the flashbacks are not as good as others and this usually brings the quality of the episode down if they aren't and some characters...
