    Amazon Echo

I have pre-ordered a Dot. It was exactly what I wanted. A second echo for my den. I do not need the built-in speaker. I plan on hooking it to my larger speakers. I really enjoy my echo. I keep it in my bedroom and use it mainly for music and control of some lights. Now I can get the same in my...

    Amazon Echo

I just hooked up a Wink Hub, and a Leviton Appliance module. Things went real smooth. I can now say "Alexa, Turn on Bedroom Light" and in about 2-3 seconds the light goes on. Now that I know this is working, I am probably going to start experimenting with other connected things. I am now off...

    Amazon Echo

Scott, you can go into the echo app and see what it heard, and even play it back if you are curious. It is weird that it would even listen unless one of the characters in the show you were watching was named Alexa (or Amazon).

Good new for Fans of the Echo. It looks like Amazon has released the tools that 3rd part developers can use to be able do develop new, neat things your echo can do. Here is a quote from an article on the Popular Science Website Link to Article...

    Amazon Echo

Yea, I have noticed that the streaming has started to have a few pauses lately. It didn't do this until just a few weeks ago. I wonder if they have reached a Bandwidth/User limit with a server or are just tweaking things? I still think they need to add the ability to get the music locally from...

    Amazon Echo

Yea, I am afraid until Amazon adds something, the files on your PC are only able to be "pushed" to the Echo (if you have Bluetooth). You can upload 250 of you songs to your prime music. Those would be available on the Echo. Or you could pay the $20 per year (I think) and upload thousands.

Awesome Ron... How long is the lag between saying the command and the lights turning on? The IFTTT demo on the Echo I saw online made it seem like it as 10 to 20 seconds. This was the one where he had a servo pour a glass of milk. I think that the items directly supported might be really...

    Amazon Echo

Enjoy! I know I am still really loving mine. I am still researching the Home Automation stuff so I haven't been able to play with lights, etc. But Even as a simple voice controlled speaker I think I got my moneys worth.

Ron, I thought they (Amazon) just added Hue support. It might only be on/off support, but hopefully they will add more. You might want to look into some of the IFTTT apps. There might be one of those that support the NEST. Since Amazon just added some IFTTT support, that might be a way to do...

    Amazon Echo

I am still liking mine. I mainly use it as a voice controlled music player in my bedroom. For the $99 I paid, I think I am getting my money's worth. I am planning on trying out the light control soon, but want to do some more research into which of the 2 supported systems is for me. I did...

    Amazon Echo

Good news everyone.... I guess Amazon is serious about adding features to the Echo. I just got an email from them stating you can now use the Echo for controlling WeMo and Philips Hue products. I do not have any of these yet, but I guess you can now turn on lights, dim them etc. by voice...

    Amazon Echo

Amazon just added Pandora to the Echo. Now you can link to your Pandora account and play your stations. I have had my Echo a couple of weeks now and I am still very happy with it. The actual voice recognition ability is superb for me. If there is any issue with Alexa not getting my request...

    Amazon Echo

Ron, Right now Amazon seems to still be treating the Echo as "in development". I think that is why they are releasing it slowly. The usage is sort of basic right now, but they claim more things will be added as time goes by. If they ever open up the code (API) so others can develop stuff for...

    Amazon Echo

Hello, I am not sure exactly where the Echo fits in this place, so I thought I would try here..... I just got my Echo yesterday and and I am in the "getting used to it" phase. Does anyone else here have experience with it? After a few attempts at set-up, I was finally able to get it to...
