This is sort of on topic. We were at our hometown's July 4th parade this morning, and one of the participants was the person below (it's a photo I took). She is Aria Hutchinson, the current Miss Michigan and sister to Aidan Hutchinson -- the former Michigan Wolverine who was #2 in the Heisman...
The Big Ten hasn't had 10 teams since Penn State joined the conference in 1990. It's just been a brand name ever since. USC and UCLA make it 16 conference members.
I am reading rumors that Oregon and Washington may be the next to reach out to the Big 10. The conference is beginning negotiations...
Not NFL news, but the college football landscape is changing again. USC and UCLA will be joining the Big Ten. With Texas and Oklahoma already having announced they are moving to the SEC, NCAA football is becoming more of a "Power 2 +3" instead of "Power 5" conference alignment. The Pac 12, Big...
I enjoyed Siragusa as a sideline guy, too, despite him being a former Baltimore Raven. Being a Steelers fan, I didn't enjoy his play on the field as much. ;)
It also appears he is close to settling with the remaining four women, too. Watson looks like a moron for not doing this a year ago - - now he will probably miss another season due to suspension when he could have been back on the field this autumn.
Can they fit all those QB contracts under the salary cap? Watson will still count against the cap if suspended, and they will have to retain at least half Mayfield's salary in order to trade him. I cannot see them also paying Garoppolo.
Changing things up a bit from the Watson talk...
I was flipping channels the other day waiting for my wife, and came across a USFL game (Tampa and New Orleans, I think). The stadium was virtually empty - - there were only "tens of people" in the stands. Now, I have paid zero attention to this...
I wonder if there is any type of morality clause in Watson's contract that would allow the Browns to terminate the contract? The NHL's San Jose Sharks enacted such a clause this past season to terminate their contract with Evander Kane.
I agree that his career stats will most like get him into the Hall of Fame (not sure about first ballot). It's funny, though, if you were to ask most fans to list the greatest running backs of all time, their list would be something like Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Emmit Smith...
Frank Gore has officially retired. He's had maybe the best NFL career that almost nobody knows about. It will be interesting to see if he ends up in the Hall of Fame eventually.
He has more rushing yards (16,000) than all but 2 players in NFL history (Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton). There are...
Must be getting blocked by your browser. It's just a meme of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, with the caption "Oh, you ate at P.F. Chang's. You must know everything about Chinese food."
Out of curiosity, I checked when each Super Bowl starting QB was drafted, starting with Brady's first SB appearance:
In summary, over the last 13 Super Bowls, other than Brady, there has been three 2nd round picks (Garoppolo, Kaepernick and Brees) and two 3rd round picks (Wilson and Foles) who...
My biggest concern regarding Pickett's noted weaknesses is his penchant for hanging onto the ball too long. I read somewhere where he was third-worst among starting QB's in the FBS last year in this stat. It demonstrates an inability to read a defense quickly and make quick decisions, which is...
The Brady example is getting old. It's been 23 years since Brady was drafted in the 6th round. Has any QB since then made any type of a significant mark as a later round draft pick -- or undrafted like Kurt Warner (it's been 28 years since he went undrafted)? Guys like Bart Starr, Johnny Unitas...
