@Mike Frezon You didn't mention the OTHER effect of using high ISO / ASA in your old film experience: The higher you go the more noise / grain you get. Modern cameras have amazing ability to get -less- noise at high ISO but it's not black magic =)
So yeah, you can't just toss it in ISO 4000...
It’s just different values John. You are looking at it from your industry perspective and others have different priorities. And honestly new toys are fun, so someone trying to yuck their yum is never going to go over well.
I fall on the side of encouraging people to enjoy their journey however...
The nice thing about using a camera with a mirror is you should be able to physically hear when your shutter is lagging, at least when slower that 1/50th or so. A 1/15th of a second is in the slow lane. Keep alert for it!
