    Aladdin (2019)

Wow, so much for those of us who may have doubted this movie's potential. Aladdin just became the highest-grossing movie of Will Smith's career — and he wants to thank you...

    Aladdin (2019)

I just read that movies had a bad weekend this weekend, with pretty much everything under-performing expectations, except Aladdin, which over-performed. https://www.the-numbers.com/news/239660830-Friday-Estimates-Toy-Story-4-needs-to-be-a-Monster-Hit

    Aladdin (2019)

I think it's fair to call it a remake.

    Aladdin (2019)

I didn't love it. Frankly, I didn't expect to, but there were aspects of it that I did like. Naomi Scott was great in her role and her song is the best one in the movie, even if it doesn't feel like it belongs (it seems to belong to a Broadway musical). The costumes were great, as well as the...

    Aladdin (2019)

A very positive review out of the UK: Aladdin review – live-action remake really takes flight 4/5stars4 out of 5 stars. Guy Ritchie’s adaptation is lively, colourful and genuinely funny – making only judicious tweaks to the original, it’s thankfully not a whole new world...

The Aladdin trailer was not played with the 2D showing of Endgame I saw. Huge missed opportunity.

Here it is. Looks like Disney had the team working overtime to improve the look of the Genie. I think it it looks good, although Disney is clearly trying to sell this on familiarity. They want the audience to know that their favorite moments from the animated film are here. Personally, I...

    Aladdin (2019)

Oh, he definitely shouldn't. I don't think most audiences equate Memorial Day with Big Event Movie Weekend anymore, and haven't for a long time. Once the biggest movies started opening earlier in the month, Memorial Day inevitably was left for less popular films - but still popular, obviously...

    Aladdin (2019)

Time was when Memorial Day was the beginning of the summer movie season. Everyone wanted to open on Memorial Day, which the original Star Wars did back in 1977 and they wanted to copy that success. In 1979, they even made a big deal out of the fact that Alien was opening on the same day Star...

    Aladdin (2019)

Oh, boy. Alan Horn, Disney Studios chief, gave an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. He talks about a lot of things (good interview, check it out) and mentions how he feels the media isn't always fair to big budget movies. He mentioned Solo, and in the same breath, mentions Aladdin. Sure...

    Aladdin (2019)

I think the clip looks good. As for Smith's Genie, in the first film you had Robin Williams doing his thing, and now it's going to Will Smith's thing. For better or worse, Smith's common movie persona will be Genie.

    Aladdin (2019)

There were incidents at Disney World in recent years with men hitting on the women who played Jasmine in the parks, back when she wore a more revealing outfit. They changed her costume, and it looks like the movie reflects that.

    Aladdin (2019)

It sounds like Williams was annoyed he wasn't paid more for the extent his contribution was used in marketing. That's understandable. But it's a bit unreasonable to expect Disney not to use the most lovable, fantastical character in a film primarily aimed at children. Williams sang on three of...

    Aladdin (2019)

Barry Levinson's Toys was not anything that children would be interested in. I saw that film in the theater and was bored to tears. I loved Robin Williams, and would go see him in anything, but he made several films that didn't come anywhere near his potential. Thank goodness Aladdin is not one...

    Aladdin (2019)

I thought using the Cave of Wonders in the trailer was a great move. There is no other moment in the film that screams "Raiders of the Lost Ark" more than the cave, and showing that bit in the teaser is a nice way to get people excited.

    Aladdin (2019)

Today we watched Aladdin with the kids, who had seen it at age 2 or 3 but didn't remember it. It was the first time viewing the blu-ray, and after it, we watched the trailer for the new film. The kids loved the movie and now everyone can't wait to see the new film. I do feel like Guy Ritchie's...
