Re: snacks. I agree with ManW, they’re certainly no good for you. But I justify it knowing that the theaters make most of their money from concessions, not tickets. I want to support the theater, so I agree to overpriced snacks and acquiesce to the demands of children.
Yes, this exactly. I typically go to the movies with my whole family, which is four of us. It can be an expensive outing, especially if we go to a show that’s not considered a matinee. (I think Spider-Verse cost us more than $15 a ticket, plus snacks which you have to buy when you have kids. You...
Well, the physical release of Avatar The Way of Water was six months after the film’s theatrical release. That seemed like the old days. Seems to me if you want to incentivize people to get to the theater, you should make the date(s) for when they can watch it at home further away from the...
Yes, from the Disney Movie Emporium.
I also hope they keep it in circulation. (I haven’t listened yet; just got home from a trip today.)
When I didn’t see a listing on Amazon, I ordered it, not knowing how long it might be offered.
Regarding the talk of the use of the Beatles song…

You’re more right than you may know. Today, I rewatched The Force Awakens with the kids, and Harrison Ford not only goes through the same story beats, he’s even got some of the same dialogue!
Han, to Maz when she tells him to go home: “Leia doesn’t want to see me.”
Indy, to Sallah when he asks...
Larry and the other hippies probably got up that morning, eager to see the festivities, and picked out appropriate music to honor the day. “Magical Mystery Tour” qualifies.
I’m impressed any time a movie or TV show gets use of a Beatles song. The last one I remember was Mad Men, which used...
Germany getting the bomb first is the premise of The Man in the High Castle, and it was very effective. But I’m sure the Indy folks wouldn’t want to repeat that.
That may be, but calling a grown man “Short” or “Shorty” has very different implications, especially one of a different ethnic background. It would be inappropriate.
If they’d replaced Harrison with someone else in the 90s, the audience would have accepted it, like getting a new James Bond every 10-12 years. But since Ford stuck with the role for 42 years, I doubt the public would ever accept anyone else.
Personally, I’d go see a recast Indiana Jones, the...
According to the actor in that spoiler, that character was originally going to have a much larger role when the film was being developed by Steven Spielberg. While David Koepp’s script wasn’t complete, the actor said that conversations with the director were such that it was to be a bigger role...
That’s true, but I’m talking about movies where the deceased actor is the star. (Yes, I know Carrie Fisher got top billing for TROS but it’s really Daisy Ridley’s movie.)
I’d love that, but Ford and Kennedy have been saying this is the last one for a while now. Ford is going to be 81 in two weeks, and while I think he could do it, I doubt the studio or the movie-going public is eager for an octogenarian action hero.
If you’ve ever wanted to see Harrison Ford playing with Indiana Jones toys while humming the Indiana Jones theme… this video is for you.

The CG for younger Indy was really good. It’s a step forward in the technology. Does anyone know if they used the same person Lucasfilm hired from YouTube for the Mandalorian/Boba Fett?
Whether we like it or not, a feature length film will be made at some point soon - probably in the next few...
I thought the early scenes at the German base had a lot of broad shots that showed a lot of what was going on there. I remember thinking we never saw this much detail (and extras) in the earlier films, except the bonfire sequence in TLC.
BTW, my inclination right now is that this is a better...
I enjoyed this. Maybe I’m a sucker for seeing Indy back in action, but I thought the story was engaging and the performances very good. That said, I can see where this film will be divisive, and that falls on James Mangold. He was obviously hired for what he did with an aging Wolverine in Logan...
I don’t know about that. I saw Paul McCartney last year, two days before his 80th birthday and he did a very active three hours, and sounded great too. The possibilities of what is achievable at that age are pretty great.
The very first interview I ever read with Ford was in People magazine in 1978. One quote of his always stuck with me. He said, “If I had anything to offer about my private life, I’d offer that it’s private.”
He hasn’t changed. (That’s good.)
Yup. Kennedy is someone who has always put the project first, even when that meant firing the directors of Solo and hiring someone else who'd reshoot much of it, to the point where the film wasn't the hit they'd hoped for. Same is true for Rogue One (although that was a big hit). She knows...
Nonsense. All she did was hire James Mangold, based on the success of Logan. If the film succeeds or fails, it’s on him.
Stop with the Kennedy bashing.
This might be the most positive review I've seen yet.
