They like to keep us hanging. Part 2 came out in 2009, and Part 3 didn't come out until nearly ten years later in 2018! Let's hope Part 6 won't take as long.
No kidding, Neil. Wasn't that like 20 years ago? People's taste change. I didn't get Fox Net or The Romance Channel back then, and I didn't care so, no, I didn't take advantage of the "ample opportunities".
At this point, I would just be happy if they put it back in reruns on television. I'll DVR it myself. There are so many retro channels out there that there is room for PP. More people would watch it if it was on free TV since not everyone would buy it. I think Get TV would be a perfect channel...
I wish Fox would release more episodes.
I'm currently watching episode 407 from my recordings.
Not my favorite storyline, but a lot better than a lot of stuff on TV today.
Jill Smith has just arrived in town. It is winter time on the show and there is snow on the ground and it looks authentic.
I never thought about it before but... is there no source (besides the Dark Shadows dvds) that gives the original broadcast airdates for each PP episode?
Paul Mavis has posted his review of the set over at DVD Talk.
He seems to agree with everything that I already posted about the set and show regarding the transfers, writing, acting, etc.
I like it when he writes, "Repeatedly, characters talk around subjects, causing the other characters in...
Just finished Disc 4.
Episode 23 is cut. This is one of the shorter episodes with a running time of 23.24.
SPOILERS...............In the preview for episode 23 (pictured below), they show George telling Julie that Les is free to be hers now that Katherine is dead. However, during the actual...
Oh, yes. I totally noticed that and recognized it as stock footage. I didn't know it was from the movie, though! Thanks for the trivia! That was a great way for them to save money.
Remember when the motorcycle gang rides into town? I think it looks like stock footage, too!
Happy to help, Mark! The episode in question is #13. Around 9 minutes in, there is an establishing shot of some workers tearing down the festival booths. There is background music playing and it is abruptly cut off and switches to a shot of Allison walking down the sidewalk. Not exactly a smooth...
I don't think its time compression. I did watch an episode where the background music was cut off abruptly where a scene changed. Looked like bad editing to me, but since I never watched the show before, I don't know what is missing.
Also, Episode #15 contains an extended opening credit. Right...
I had some free time, so I copied down the rest of the running times.
I put a * next to the episodes with shorter running times.

My pleasure, Mark! I hope the set will sell well so Shout! will release the whole series!!!
I'm really enjoying the series thus far! The writing is excellent, and the acting is top notch!
I'm especially overjoyed that actress Kasey Rogers (Julie Anderson) is one of the stars featured...
Here you go...
I'm on Disc 2 now. I should mention the episodes are closed-captioned. There are chapter stops where the commercial breaks would be. The original 20th Television Fox logo is included at the end. Black levels change from episode to episode. Some episodes are a little too dark...
And here's the menus...
They are not static menus. They are motion menus. A character's face is highlighted and then we hear audio from one of the episodes of them speaking .
As you can see, the menu gives you the option to play the preview clip independently by itself. If you select...
I purchased it at a store on the west coast that sells used dvds and cds. It was unused and still sealed in shrinkwrap. I think it may be an advance copy for movie/TV reviewers because there is a small hole punch over the UPC bar code.
There are no extras. Just a "bare bones" set.
I didn't...
The episodes seem to be complete. I timed a few, and the running times are in the 25 minute range which is normal for a show from the '60s. This includes the 30 second preview for the next episode.
Episode 25 - 25:27
Episode 28 - 25:23
Episode 31 - 25:24
I got my copy of Peyton Place: Part One today!!!
The discs come in an Amaray case that holds 5 discs (similar to the ones Paramount uses) and a slipcover. You slide the case out of the slipcover and its the same picture underneath. Inside the case is a picture of a park.
It come with a...
