The films I want which have never been released in any format tend to be those with rights problems; e.g. The Bramble Bush, The Dark At The Top Of The Stairs, The Flame And The Flesh plus Ice Palace which very briefly appeared on a Warner Archive DVD-R.
There's another missing Lana Turner...
Is it certain that there will be another MovieZyng sale? Is it a regular thing like Kino sales? I've recently placed an order with MovieZyng for three Warner Archive discs because I'm not willing to wait for something that might not happen. I hope I haven't made a mistake!
Yeah, I'd like to have that one in my collection. A powerful cast plus music from Henry Mancini. Philip Lathrop certainly made Jacqueline Bisset look elegant.
That was the point of MOD DVDs where standard definition would not over emphasize the flaws in the elements. Even there however, some of the discs have such awful picture quality that a high quality Blu-ray disc seems extremely unlikely. I don't recall the Warner Archive Blu-ray project ever...
I'm very, very pleased about Saratoga which I've seen only once and that was decades ago at a small cinema club. I enjoyed the film enormously and have always wanted to add it to my collection. As I'm not a fan of Jean Harlow, I didn't want to buy a DVD box-set of her movies for that one title.
I couldn't agree more! I saw The Miracle when it first came out and I'd love to have that on a Blu-ray disc fully up to Warner Archive's exemplary standards. I hope someone asks Mr. Feltenstein about this movie.
I also saw this film when it was first released and I too would love to have it on a Warner Archive Blu-ray disc.
If my memory of the film is reliable, The Miracle is made for high definition!
I watched the DVD last night and the ratio is 1:1.75. The disc sleeve says: WIDESCREEN VERSION PRESENTED IN A "MATTED" WIDESCREEN FORMAT PRESERVING THE ASPECT RATIO OF ITS ORIGINAL THEATRICAL EXHIBITION. ENHANCED FOR WIDESCREEN TVS.
The picture quality is very much that of a DVD transfer. I...
Yes, I'd love to have that film on a Warner Archive Blu-ray disc too, but to go further and declare that John Wayne, Henry Fonda and James Cagney are locked away is absurd. I have several Warner Archive Blu-ray discs with each of these stars.
