    Not atypical of Warner Color negative conformation. Probably the most problematic example being Giant. Ad CinemaScope to the mix, and it’s a perfect optical storm. Considering that, Mr. Roberts is perfect.

    A couple of notes. The original DVD arrived in 1998, and was re-packaged - same unpleasant master - in 2006. The stereo track is derived from an original surviving 1955 4-track magnetic print.

    Much of it has quite extraordinary color, especially for WarnerColor. The blue tonalities of the water are amazing, and pop. Possibly because of a bit of Y fade.
