My 4K disc arrived yesterday from Deep Discount. I watched the 4K disc in its entirety last night and noticed a couple of issues that I most likely wouldn't have noticed, if it wasn't for this thread, as I was paying very close attention to the video presentation more so than my usual movie...

I take a night off and all hell breaks out. :D

It's my perception that there seems to be some kind of criticism for many releases.

There is no question about that, as I've admitted my eyes aren't as discerning as others regarding those issues and edge enhancement. TBH, I'm glad my eyes/brain doesn't process those issues like you do, otherwise, I would be in a pattern of constant disappointment.

Well, I was in a disagreeable mood early this morning.:) I disagree with you regarding that Blu-ray being unwatchable, but from my perspective. I would never question what another person is seeing from their perspective.

And, he's not alone in that regard as I suspect that many consumers dig the DNR look on their non-projector displays. IMO, there is a silent segment of consumers that don't share their fondness for that DNR look because they're happy and have no reason to complain which is in contrast to film...

I don't think this disc is going to be as divisive as he thinks among "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" disc purchasers because those that are bothered by the issues brought up by RAH will refuse to buy it since it's being talked about a great deal across the various sites so people know about...

There isn't much doubt that reviewer has been reading RAH's comments about the disc.

Well, I don't know about that, you would assume so, but this discussion as to what Paramount is doing with their movies just doesn't involve 4K discs and John Ford movies. There is a bigger issue that RAH is trying to bring attention to.
