I saw that this morning. @JohnRice I'm thinking of picking up the 5000 at that bargain price to pair it with my 7140 so now I only have to buy the pre-amp/processor if I want to go completely separates through the whole system next year or the year after.
You gave up on me too.:) Perhaps, if I update my Yamaha 3060 receiver in a couple of years, I might buy a pre-amp/processor along with another amp to power my Atmos channels instead of a new receiver. I'll have to evaluate cost versus improved performance. I probably won't notice much...
I have to agree with you John. Ron, you should have your Outlaw amp power your main channels and your surround speakers and let your Denon receiver power the Atmos channels.
On my 7.2.4 setup I have my Outlaw amp powering my seven channels with my receiver powering the four Atmos channels.
Ron, unless you're going to run that 13.2 receiver along with some external amps, I'm not so sure how much of an audio improvement you're going to get with 6 overheads instead of four.
Which is fine, but that doesn’t mean Tony will hear the same results. I know I’m not experiencing your results which is why people need to trust their own hearing and then make up their mind.
Let's be clear that Edwin's opinion is just one opinion in this regard as I don't agree at all about up firing speakers being a waste of money and ineffective.
I had my audio system calibrated by an ISF calibrator in September. So I didn't really play around with different modes. He calibrated my system in Dolby Surround mode. I compared that mode to Straight during my testing today. I didn't find any differences. What I did find out is that some...
What I'm finding is that not all soundtracks have the four Atmos channels activated at the same time. More to come, but I am changing surround modes per your question.
My Dolby Atmos setup is 7.2.4 Today, I discovered by accident an issue as I was sampling the final battle on Transformers 4K disc. When I left my sitting position and stood close to my front speakers, I realized I couldn't hear any audio coming out of my front Dolby Atmos Klipsch modules...
I've only watched the first Transformers movie on 4K disc. I do have the latest one on 4K disc too because it was on sale for $9.99, but I haven't viewed it yet.
Yeah, I talked it over with an Outlaw representative and he did some quick math with the A3060 specs. as we decided what was the best bang for my bucks. I'll have the A3060 drive just the Dolby Atmos speakers.
Yeah, I hear you. I've been thinking about it for a long time and I might end up doing it despite my preference not to, due to added cost. I've been looking at Outlaw's 7140 amp to drive my initial seven speakers and have the receiver just do the four Dolby Atmos speakers. Or have all the...
By the way, I unpackaged the Klips and they fit perfectly on my Paradigm References. I'm in the process of making up my speaker wires to test them out as surround speakers just to make sure they're working.
Actually, I'm waiting on the new top of line models for Denon, Marantz and Onkyo. I'm going to run a 7.1.4 setup and I don't want to bother with outboard amplifier for just two channels which is why I didn't upgrade now with the Yamaha 3060.
Edit: I'm waiting to see if any have the new HDMI...
Oh well, I did buy those Klipsch's speakers and will get all four of them today. My SVS PC 13-Ultra arrives on Wednesday. The only thing left to get before I'm Dolby Atmos capable is a new receiver. I'm working on that, but that little voice keeps telling me to wait on the 2017 models. Once...
Sam,
Out of curiosity, why did you buy those AJ upfiring modules instead of those Klipschs? Based on my little Dolby Atmos knowledge, I would think the AJ modules would be just fine instead of the much more expensive Klipschs.
Somebody told me HDMI 2.1 supports 8K and dynamic HDR so it doesn't look like it's going to affect me at all.
Note: Found this out about dynamic HDR:
