There's nothing that guarantees a Day One purchase for me more than "This new Blu-ray presentation restores 6 minutes cut from the film and unseen for nearly seven decades." The Man I Love is the bluray winner for me; on the whole it's quite a good month. Act Of Violence is also a terrific...

Oh I know and that's awesome news, however using the words silents/ pipeline/ forthcoming/Feltenstein in the HTF search function I had found similar statements/promises in threads dating back to 2022, 2014, 2012. Hence my post.

Well we do have control over what we buy, which I am sure is taken into account by someone at WarnerArchive, which brings me to what I think is the key issue. If The Boob/Why Be Good blu-ray garners poor reviews here and on Amazon, etc., then at the end of the year we may read or hear "Well if...

I guess the issue is that for most of us, it *was* a simple matter to see everything we wanted get released. When vhs, laser disc and then dvds came out, huge amounts of films were liberated from the vaults on a weekly basis in box sets, looking better then ever. While those days are definitely...

It's interesting that they list the silent films separately on the cover but sort of hide the great news that 3 Godfathers includes the 1936 version as a bonus. Either way these releases are the two must-buys for me.

Every month we go through a Groundhogs Day collection of posts asking when (or if) WarnerArchive will announce new releases. Meanwhile 15 minutes ago another home video company announced on Twitter they'll be making their May release announcements with the day, date and time (with 3 timezones...

In any case we know, that's been established. WB has ownership of those films on the *separate* MGM and Warner Brothers lists.

We know. However if you refer to the original (still uncorrected) list you will see the films are separated by the original studio that released them. Hence Julius Caesar = MGM, not Warner Brothers.

Julius Caesar, which is also one of my most anticipated titles, is an MGM film, not a Warner Bros film.

The one Esther Williams film I'd love to see on bluray is Duchess Of Idaho. I watched it a few years ago and it was unexpectedly very funny. The Technicolor would look amazing on bluray. Van Johnson was back as her love interest here, and there are also cameos from Red Skelton, Lena Horne and...

These WarnerArchive January releases are such a great way to start the year. The Prince And The Pauper, Cabin In The Sky and A Day At The Races are all must-haves; however the pre-code Faithless starring the somewhat neglected Robert Montgomery is the one I am most interested in acquiring.

I'm still excited about all of those December 12 releases. In regard to 2024.... Early Garland would be nice, specifically Presenting Lily Mars, which is a terrific, entertaining film. The restored Mata Hari Random Harvest Another silent film or two. Li-Li, Words And Music, Till The...

Even if I have seen a movie multiple times, every recent WarnerArchive blu-ray release I have watched has been a revelatory experience thanks to the vastly improved picture quality. If they work their same magic with The Man Who Came To Dinner it will be another Day One purchase.

Yes thank you, I see that and ironically I still have that laser disc box set too! I must have confused it with Laughing Sinners, which if it ever made it to laser disc, I never had it. Anyway, I agree that the bluray release of Dance Fools, Dance, transfered from the 1930's OCN is a must-buy...

I may be wrong but I believe Dance Fools, Dance was the only Gable/Crawford film to not be released on laser disc. Plus I also remember the film quality of the VHS to be very subpar, so today's "4K Scan of Original Nitrate Camera Negative!" announcement makes this one a must buy for me.

Father's Little Dividend is now the second of MGM's 1950's films rescued from copyright renewal lapses in the 1970's. The upcoming blu-ray release of The Last Time I Saw Paris is the other. Is it possible that due to the lapsed copyright issue, WarnerArchive has "better", less worn-out...

I had just asked for more Spencer Tracy so rescuing Father's Little Dividend from public domain hell is a very welcome surprise. I am not an Elvis fan, but I am very excited about all of the titles!

Well when this was on TCM last year, the actress Ellen Barkin tweeted "Van Johnson is a damn fine actor. @tcm on a saturday afternoon is the best." So there's one person's opinion. I am just thrilled this film is being rescued from public domain hell due to the copyright not being renewed. It...

I'd love for either Royalty or Child to be the Errol Flynn version of THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER. I was under the (possibly incorrect) impression these would be all heritage-Warner titles, which would obviously rule out Royal Wedding, but we'll find out soon enough.

I like it when WarnerArchive takes a deep dive into their catalog and comes out with titles that surprise everyone. The Strawberry Blonde is an incredibly charming film and with that cast I am surprised it did not become a better-known film. This will be a day-one bluray purchase for me. I...
