Did he frequent the place, or just sell his name and image?

I did watch it, and recommend it highly. I especially enjoyed the description of the Martin & Lewis years, about which I knew little - just recall that their break-up was a huge deal in the movie mags of my adolesence.

Oh my! Even WB seems to have given Edd better films than this. Yellowstone Kelly was, at least, watchable.

Never mind... I think it was Robert Logan. ?

I enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek review, but still couldn't warm up to the Donahue episodes. Why was he there? Am I the only one to think that his presence messed up the whole composite cast structure? Cricket would never have kept her reluctant involvement in a mystery from Tom. She'd have wanted...

Who's the fellow on the far left? Robert Colbert?

Thanks for posting that. Even though Edd Byrnes was the only link to our conversation, it was a thoroughly enjoyable hour. Didn't Bobby Darin just ooze talent? And, it was fun to hear the musical selections - mostly tunes from the movies. No comment about Anita Bryant. :)

    Then you'll love it!

Lots of familiar faces in this stinker which was, IMHO, stolen from them by Jerry VanDyke. Watch actors born in the 1930's portray high school and college kids on Spring break - probably didn't advance anyone's career!

What a hoot! I hadn't known that Roger Smith wrote "Caper". And Z may well have been the model for Mrs. Doubtfire. Thanks for posting!

77 Sunset Strip / Hawaiian Eye, etc.

The shows we grew up on promoted a cringe worthy ethos - our heroes drinking with, and then sleeping, with their clients was just business as usual. So a review written with that in mind shouldn't offend - and doesn't! Don't let me cramp your style. :)

77 Sunset Strip / Hawaiian Eye, etc.

Ah, you couldn't remember it and I couldn't find it, even after scrolling back thru many pages and finding lots of other stuff to occupy several hours time. So, thanks for reposting it. And your reviews are always a pleasure, even if a tad sexist. This feminist has a sense of humor!

I don't think I've missed any of your reviews since I joined in. Now I'm wondering if I'm forgetting things!

That was "Total Eclipse" from the third season. I hadn't flagged it as a favorite, but I assigned my ratings 50 years ago, so my tastes were understandably immature. The song was Dancing in the Dark, one that Connie recorded on one of her albums. Sorry not to be more helpful.

Thank you for another fun review. I had to pull that one out and have another look, as it had failed to make my grade as an episode to watch, every decade or so, when when there's snow on the ground and I can't sleep. There's nothing wrong with it - just no Robert Conrad, and the song (the theme...

Yes, I do remember that TV Guide article, but thanks for posting the photos - hadn't seen many of them. What did you think of Bold Venture? I had just discovered island fantasies when it aired here - was swept away by the music, the set decor, King Moses, and the blonde pony-tailed role model...

What fun to have found a bunch of people who know who Joan Marshal was! But, I notice no one has yet mentioned the ZIV series, Bold Venture. Anyone?

Before I even finished reading your comment I knew I'd have to comment about the memorable smell of my little radio. To this day, when I unbox a new electronic "toy", I recall slipping it out of its leather case and breathing in that wonderful aroma. Speaking of Joanie's voice, I'll bet it's no...

77 Sunset Strip / Hawaiian Eye, etc.

True, it was Connie on "Lend me Your Comb", but Joanie did "Kookie's Love Song", "Hot Rod Rock", and "I Don't Dig You, Kookie", all understandably forgettable. I heard Joanie interviewed once and she said that, yes, those were a little embarrassing, but she is most sorry that she will forever be...

Interesting actress, Hedy Lamarr! When I first heard about her inventions and patents I remember researching her - it's true, but the thing that surprised me most was that, while a Google search yields easily a hundred photos of her, there's nary a one of her smiling. I hope her many attributes...

That's a pretty comprehensive review, so I haven't much to add, just one chuckle and one tip of the hat to the director: The chuckle is in the final scene, when the two old fishermen are rewarded with the "Medal of the Albatross", one asks "What's an albatross?", the other responds "It's the...

Now, fellows, you've made me want to have another look at BSB. When it gets too cold to play outside I'll have to go thru the "stacks" in my guest room closet and see if I still have any. I don't know all that much about WB shows other than HE (hearing those GAS tunes sung by someone under 25...

Another treat! I love your reviews. I rewatched the episode with a Script City copy of Eisley’s script in one hand and your review in the other. You’ve reduced the episode to the bare bones, but funny bones at that! FWIW, the episode was originally titled “Strangler in Paradise”, as Claire...

77 Sunset Strip / Hawaiian Eye, etc.

Wasn't there an embarrassing (to WB) mini-scandal after they released an official bio of her that severely exaggerated her educational background, claiming she made dean's list at prestigious school she'd not even attended? I kind of recall the fan magazines describing the incident as having...

After Covid passes, you might consider attending the Route 66 Mother Road Festival in Springfield IL. The Saturday evening cruise is about as good a spectator sport as a boomer could want!

Quick, someone post an episode review, before we start reviewing TP and downer drugs Just one state west of you, some 60's teens actually were hot-rodders, souping up their small block Chevy's. Even now, in retirement, my brother is making a hot rod of a Henry J, and I can't part company with...

77 Sunset Strip / Hawaiian Eye, etc.

Given that so many "full sets" are available, but with episodes of varying quality, perhaps we should organize a swap circle - each list the episodes of which we have good quality burns and would be wiling to burn copies to trade for episodes of which we have only barely watchable ones...
