Kino has announced many more Noir volumes are coming. May I suggest this film ... Universal's FORBIDDEN (1953) with Tony Curtis. Republic serial fans will enjoy this one as David Sharpe doubles TC throughout the film.
A couple more with Adele Mara from Republic in 1947.
BLACKMAIL with William Marshall as wise-cracking detective Dan Turner from the pulp magazines. The cast includes Ricardo Cortez, Grant Withers, Stephanie Bachelor and Roy Barcroft. Lesley Selander directs and there's a couple of great fight...
Love the contents of the latest Noir set announcements.
From the Republic library, may I suggest THE LAST CROOKED MILE (1947) with Donald Barry, Ann Savage, Adele Mara and Sheldon Leonard.
Great choices. I'd like to add THE BLAZING FOREST (Paramount, 1952), one of the better Pine-Thomas films of the fifties. Some terrific special effects/miniatures and excellent location shooting in the tall timber area of California. It would look spectacular in Blu-ray. As usual with the...
I recently watched my ancient copy of this Paramount pre-code feature I recorded years ago from American Movie Classics. Any chance for a Kino Blu-ray release of this terrific action film? I think it's better than any of the Tarzan films produced at MGM or RKO.
I'm hoping that Universal's 1953 Tony Curtis vehicle FORBIDDEN makes it into one of the future noir sets, It's a good one with Joanne Dru and Lyle Bettger.
FANCY PANTS is one of Bob's best. The DVD looks great and the Blu should be a winner.
I also would love to see Bob's CASANOVA'S BIG NIGHT get a release too. If you've not seen it, just drool over this cast list: Joan Fontaine, Audrey Dalton, Basil Rathbone, John Carradine, Raymond Burr, Lon...
A Universal noir title that I hope is included on an upcoming set is FORBIDDEN (1953) with Tony Curtis, Joanne Dru, Marvin Miller and the great Lyle Bettger. Lots of action with Tony doubled by stuntman David Sharpe in some very well-done action sequences.
I really "hope" CASANOVA'S BIG NIGHT is one of the titles. One of Bob Hope's best films. The Technicolor image on the Paramount DVD looks fantastic and a Blu-ray would look simply gorgeous. And the cast...besides Hope, there's Joan Fontaine, Basil Rathbone, John Carradine, Raymond Burr, Lon...
For a potential second Audie Murphy set, I'd like to recommend his only black and white Universal release SHOWDOWN (1963) with Kathleen Crowley, Charles Drake and (soon to appear in The Wild Bunch) L.Q. Jones and Strother Martin. Plus, SIX BLACK HORSES features Audie with the great Dan Duryea.
I have so many "Thank You" messages to send out to the folks at Kino. Love all the Billy Wilder and Bob Hope titles and appreciate the Republic pictures released a few years back. Plus titles like P.J., What's So Bad About Feeling Good? and more.
My most recent thanks must go out for the batch...
Lots of great titles listed above! I'm hoping for THE THREE STOOGES IN ORBIT (the only Columbia release of the Joe DeRita years not previously getting a Blu-ray release).
Also...William Castle's UNDERTOW (1949) with Scott Brady, John Russell and Dorothy Hart. It was released as a standard DVD on one of those Turner Classic Movies packages a few years back.
