THE OUTCAST is one of my favorite films from director William Witney. Later in the month, GRIT will be showing Witney's SANTA FE PASSAGE with John Payne and Rod Cameron. It's another good one.

I believe the reindeer roundup and other scenes came from Republic's 1938 "Call of the Yukon" with Richard Arlen, Beverly Roberts, Lyle Talbot and Mala. Scenes from this film were also used in Republic's 1953 serial "Canadian Mounties vs. Atomic Invaders".

HONEYCHILE has a great stunt-filled climax with Judy and Eddie Foy Jr. in a wagon chase. I believe OKLAHOMA ANNIE is the film where longtime Republic bad guy Roy Barcroft has a funny confrontation with Judy in the finale.

I saw ALIAS JESSE JAMES at a packed Saturday matinee and the crowd response to each cameo was huge. A cherished memory of my moviegoing days of the fifties and sixties.

These were recently shown on TCM and the picture quality was incredible. Both very entertaining films.

I should mention that the majority of titles I've purchased from Grapevine is fine. This Blu-ray of BELLS OF CORONADO has been my only disappointment.

I have the BELLS OF CORONADO Blu-ray from Grapevine and it looks awful. The VHS release looks much better.
