Watched the “Voices” episode of My Friend Tony last night and recommend it. Don’t remember hearing about this series before and enjoy seeing Whitmore as a more even keeled protagonist. Just like in The Law and Mr. Jones, nice to see a different side of him than often surfaces in his guest spots...
For as much as people used to poke fun at ol’ Merv, I’d take him, Mike Douglas, and for that matter Dinah Shore, John Davidson, Gary Collins, etc, over the one trick pony hosts we have now. Talk show hosts and game show emcees have sure gone downhill.
A few years back I had a landlady who was gaga for Chuck Conners, but my mom recently told me he always gave her the creeps (“Something about those eyes.”). I like him.
Alone wouldn’t be entirely accurate. I find my broken dreams, my despair, and my extinguished passion to be more than adequate company.

I’ve watched a handful of Police Story episodes in recent weeks, great show. I’ll probably tackle the pilot episode you posted soon. Noticed Sandy Baron is in it, who I like in the 60’s and 90’s. Interesting guy with some real ups and downs, some of them detailed in this article...
I was thinking about this again today and I have to say, one of the great things about me is how magnanimous I am. When you do come around to my way of thinking, there will be no I told you so’s, no where were you when I needed you’s. No, I will say “That’s great Neal, it’s nice to have you on...
Just watched “Kiss Me, Kill You”. Fantastically creepy episode with Jeremy Clyde (half of Chad & Jeremy, whose “I Don’t Want To Lose You Baby” Mono LP I happened to pick up at the same yard sale as the Mr. Novak soundtrack last weekend).
Scott and Neal, I can relate. School was a terrible experience for me, TV and comics made things bearable in the younger years, and music/books/film joined them in junior high. One of the things that bums me out about the present day is tv used to be a respite from real life, populated by...
Skip E. Lowe is a character but the shows are often great. Haven't seen it for awhile but the Nita Talbot episode showed her to be as beautiful as ever in her later years, and as funny and smart as you would imagine from her roles.
Happy New Year Marv, and enjoy your vacation! I spent the better part of a decade in Detroit and cultivated an appreciation for Rock & Rye myself. Was pleasantly surprised to stumble across it in a small market in Santa Monica about 5 years ago, must have gotten some kind of distribution deal.
Neal, I read through this post in a hurry to get down to that last picture and in my haste, for a few baffling seconds I labored under the mistaken impression this was a photo of a bikini clad Anita Bryant. 🥴
Watched “Maddon’s Folly” last night, nice introduction to a series I’ve long been curious about. Thanks again for this thread Neal and Marv! (And everyone else who contributes.)
Bracken’s World - One, Two, Three, Cry. With Barry Sullivan guest starring as an over the top acting teacher. I’m a little surprised this series hasn’t gotten more interest, with the enduring popularity of Leslie Nielsen and the forum’s lust for Madlyn Rhue, and the similar milieu to Tarantino’s...
I’m hoping you dig up the Me And The Chimp Christmas special! And of course, there was that Invaders episode that never made it past the script stage, where David Vincent spots a shopping center Santa with that telltale finger and ruins the holiday for a lot of kids in line....and that final...
I’m getting bombarded with pop up ads the last few days, only on this site. Is it happening to anyone else or do I have a virus or something? Mainly an ad for a company called 3D games.
It’s been over a decade since I watched Tate, might be time to revisit it. I remember being surprised that I hadn’t heard more about it, seemed like it would have a good reputation.
I’ve watched Sahl’s Cavett appearances a few times in recent years. Up until the pandemic, he was still doing a weekly live show/livestream, he’d had a stroke and was a bit harder to understand at first but was still sharp and funny in his 90’s. Watched this documentary about him a few days ago.
