A.O.Scott's 2 word review: "Perfume stinks" I think those 2 reviewers missed out on the fairy tale aspect, and tried to take it much more literal than it was intended. But it is much longer than it needed to be in running time.

This was a weird, but fascinating to watch film as it unfolded with a leisurely pace. Viewers are treated to a lead character whose obsession knew no societal bounds, and he would go to unimaginable lengths to capture a person's unique smell. Can't say it'll appeal to a lot of folks, but...
