I am in no big hurry to revisit Psycho at this point so looks like a good idea to wait a little longer with the replacement so that they actually get it right the first time around and without me having to remind them multiple times in the process.
The 70mm Todd AO 30 fps version looks quite stunning in motion. The cobbled together 24 fps HD version not so much.
I hope that an Oklahoma! Style restoration with the intended frame rate will be possible in the future.
I think this is the best way to keep costs down which sadly is very important especially for UHD catalog titles and as you say many won't know or care anyway.
I am not surprised as for myself I found his reviews to be the least helpful on that site, hard to forget that glowing review of the first Patton Blu-ray.
Two big UHD boxsets (Sony Classics and Universal Hitchcock) and two costly blunders - not good. I am sorry for the studios but it will pay off in the long run that they both did the right thing.
