Is your service “real 5G”? My AT&T service I’ve read is not real full 5G in my area. Even though it says 5G, it says 5Ge. Sort of fake 5G. I just did the speed test with wifi turned off. My numbers are lower then yours. 47.1 download and 11.1 upload.
My iPhone 12 was finally updated to iOS 14.6 about a week ago. I was really curious if the FaceID feature updated for mask wearing would work. And it does! That is pretty neat that it’s using the Apple Watch to unlock the iPhone when it sees a mask. The other neat thing is a notification on...
Hey guys, I thought I’d post about an odd experience I had with the iPhone 12 Pro. When I first got it, I did the quick set-up, which I never did before on earlier iPhones. I placed the iPhone 12 Pro next to the iPhone X and let the data transfers wirelessly. That meant all the music and video...
Here’s a review from Apple Insider. They were less impressed.
https://appleinsider.com/articles/20/12/05/review-belkins-magsafe-car-vent-mount-pro-isnt-as-pro-as-wed-like
YouTube suggested this video review of the Belkin car MagSafe mount. I thought the reviewer was a goof, sorry if you are a fan of his, but he demoed the car mount with the iPhone 12 mini and up to the iPhone 12 Pro Max and it looks promising.
This second video popped up of another mount...
FYI, I don’t know if anybody here has experienced this before, but right before the pandemic broke out, I noticed the iPhone X lightning connector wasn’t seating tightly so when I connected my iPhone X to the car for CarPlay, any movement could jar the connector loose. I thought the iPhone X’s...
Today was the first time I took a quick drive in my car with the new iPhone 12P. I hooked it up to my car’s aftermarket head unit that is CarPlay enabled. To my surprise it took several minutes to work. The display was black on my car’s head unit. I checked the CarPlay settings in settings and...
Interesting Carlo, skipping several generations, I’d think wouldn’t make that much difference if one always updated to the latest iOS. But anything is possible. I did take the watch off over an hour ago and I’ve had 4 notifications show and light up the iPhone with an audio alert. These were...
Thanks for the update Carlo. I had a feeling the new iOS 14.2 or iOS and iPhone 12 just works differently now. And notifications works differently. I took the watch off and I suspect the notifications will light up the iPhone now. And when one wears the watch, notifications will light up the...
I didn’t take a lot of time to fine tune the aperture setting, but I was happy with the depth of field from the DSLR. it’s close to the bokeh effects from the iPhones. I should have used manual focus on the DSLR though as the image should be a lot sharper at the headlights of the blue Mustang.
I attempted to do a camera comparison. Lighting is natural with a window behind the cars and on the right there is light bouncing off the wall from another window behind the camera.
top, iPhone X 28mm 1/15 sec
middle iPhone 12 26mm 1/15 sec
bottom Canon EOS 5 MK IV 34mm, 6 sec, f 13
Heres the...
Just to follow up on my earlier question about not getting notifications on my iPhone 12P. It seems it’s still not working. Carlo, I even un-paired and re-paired my Apple Watch to the iPhone 12P. In doing a search, I found that a large number of people on the Apple support pages are also...
Carlo, thanks! I actually had my watch paired to the iPhone 12 Pro. What I discovered was in settings, under my name there is a Find My. In that section it lets me set my location. There I had the option to set this phone as my location. I checked the iPhone X and to my surprise the location was...
By the way, whilst I’m getting familiar with the iPhone 12 Pro, I noticed a few things I don’t know how to fix yet. For example if I get a notification for a text or a news item from Apple News, the notification lights up my iPad and my Apple Watch and they both ping me. And my iPhone X lights...
Oh sure, swapping the SIM I learned is pretty standard. I was just making a bit of a fuss about the whole thing because it was a new process for me. Partly due to the iPhone being a dual SIM phone and partly because I wasn’t sure I did it right Since I don’t do this very often. :)
Well Dave, when I spoke to the AppleCare guy yesterday, he felt it was better to use the eSIM for your primary number. If you travel, you can use the physical SIM slot. And that’s how I have my iPhone 12 Pro set up.
Carlo, the AppleCare guy said either way is fine, swap the SIM from the old...
Carlo, how did you get the cellular working? Did you swap the SIM card?
images of the guitar looks great. I’ll have to try some photography this weekend!
Carlo, I’m on AT&T.
The AppleCare guy I spoke to yesterday said the conventional way to transfer cellular from an old iPhone to a new one is either transferring the old SIM card into the new iPhone, or preferably, use a QR code your carrier gives you to set up the eSIM. He told me it was good I...
Carlo, thanks for that set-up link! That’s a useful page! I scanned over it, and the process I did to set up the cellular was the last one it shows. It wasn’t like I knew what I was doing. I had not done any reading ahead of time, which I usually do to educate myself. In this case, I made an...
Carlo, Man, that looks like the Quick Start for copying all the data and settings over to the new iPhone. That’s what I did. But the cellular set up was separate from this.
David, thanks for showing the clear Apple case. I will be very interested in seeing it on your iPhone. Assuming you will use it. And if you got the silver stainless steel one, the back will be white.
Guys, pardon my diversion from the iPhone 12 cameras and cases. :). The other day I posted a question about the cellular set up and I wasn’t feeling I did it right.
I was also having an odd situation when sending texts via the messaging app and my messages suddenly were green, like I was...
Hey Clinton, I thought the photos were done with an older iPhone and the iPhone 12 to compare. But I realized they were all from the iPhone 12. Thanks for sharing.
