I'm on your side. Mine was a comment about those that laugh it off. Just because it isn't in the news anymore doesn't mean that it doesn't kill. As a member of the senior community - I have gotten all of my shots and boosters - have been careful and still got Covid. Lucky for me mine was mild...
I was going to post a like Dave but that isn't what I want to convey. I, like most of us, was sure that this would all be over by now. It's not. Sometimes life sucks and this is one of those times but it will pass. My social life is, as so many others, a world of mostly social media and zoom...
Ya think? Here in Florida - in the area most likely to die from covid (nursing homes) only 2 out of 5 staff is vaccinated.

If your wife needs surgery go forward with confidence. You are both vaccinated - make sure your surgeon is as well. The odds are very much in your favor. And with the vaccine covid isn't what it was plus now they have many treatments.
Stay well my friend.
I'll repeat it again. We can cure stupid. We have a virus for it.
If you lived here you wouldn't know it's a problem. They only report numbers on a weekly basis and nobody in the govt seems concerned.
The scary part is - take any infection number and pretty much double it because with + or - 50% of the population vaccinated the pool left to create infections is about half. That means that most of the country is above the 5% danger zone the CDC used and some are running at very dangerous...
Here in Florida we have had another uptick in cases. The only good way to see how we're doing is to subtract the number of vaccinated from the list and then determine the percentage. I suspect with that measurement we are approaching previous levels.
The county right below mine (Manatee) has been famous for being pretty open during the entire pandemic. Last week the county government building had a breakout of covid. Three people in the hospital seriously ill. Two others have died. The response - Starting Monday - masks are optional...
I think there will be a spike but I think the number of vaccinations will mute it quite a bit. Or is that just my Pollyanna attitude looking for a pony in there?
Why would anyone not trust the CDC - remember the guys that told us not to wear a mask a year ago last march...
For the record I believe in the vaccine and science but have not always found the CDC to be the best source.
Jeff Dunham's Walter says wearing your mask on your chin is like wearing your jock strap on your knee!
I wish the news agencies would announce the percentage of unvaccinated to vaccinated when they give hospital and death reports. It does not invade any ones privacy and IMHO would help a great...
It's a commemoration for a magician that has passed on. Usually performed for those that were members of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. It is a way for the magician's magic friends to mark his or her passing.
Broken Wand Ceremony
Mark - Yes please send the link. A Broken Wand is a hard thing to get through. I have attended/officiated too many at my age.
If it is safe - come to Abbotts this year. I'd love to meet you. Stay in Sturgis. Not luxury but decent hotels and only about a 15 minute drive. Just book early.
Once...
Mark - I wrote about 5 replies but none seem to work. You did everything you could. Damn Covid doesn't care. Just remember the good stuff and in time the hurt will withdraw but the memories will remain.
EDIT - wanted to add that I met him at
Abbotts so I share a loss as well.
From what I have read that can be true - it depends on how the homemade masks are made. Generally - the more layers (at least 3) and finer mesh of the right material makes all the difference. Latest info coming out suggests that for those of us that can't get real N95 double masking will do. A...
Our home depot has delivery to car as has many other stores. We're in the front and they're loading the back. We also paid for instacart and have our groceries delivered - we pay a little more + tip but it just feels safer.
My wife needed her hair cut - we have been very good and have not gone out since this started. We even have our groceries delivered. A little checking got her a private sitting. My wife wore a mask and the cutter wore a mask and a face shield. There are people and places doing it right - you...
