I just want to suggest a counter idea. I know I am tired of staying in place. When this is over and I can return to "normal" I want to get out and about. A lot. Perhaps pent up demand will save the movie houses that are left.
I don't have a crystal ball but I can tell you there are lot of...
I'm very worried about a lot of businesses. They were all thinking "If I could just get to 2021" and now they're told 2022. It is going to get worse before it gets better - and better may not look the same.
We have neighbors that tell us the death rate is lower than other kinds of flu strains and much lower than previous pandemics - therefore "no problem" When I suggest the shut down was the reason they turn a deaf ear. Apparently we have a segment of the population that will only believe it if...

I don't know what they are doing currently.
I am mostly in agreement with you. The possible game changer would be the roll out of a successful treatment. Turn this into the flu and people can go back to work. A cough and mild fever I can get over ... death, on the other hand, is more difficult.
I don't think Drive In's will "save" the movie industry. I just wanted to point out that there still is theater demand. When this is over, at least some will want to return to theaters. Will it be less? I don't know.
As far as peoples habits forever changing - for those of us that still...
There have been a few articles on the increase in Drive-In movie attendance. It would seem that at least some of the people still want to go to the show if they can figure out a way.
