A Few Words About A few words about...™ My Fair Lady (Take Two) -- in Blu-ray

I've always hated the ending of MFL. I'd be among those standing and applauding at that version of the ending.

This goes hand-in-glove with that discussion on the Pygmalion story we had in this thread a few pages back: Characters In My Fair Lady Who Are Not Henry Higgins I Would Rather Have Seen Eliza Doolittle End Up With

When I saw RAH's restored MFL at my local art house last year...the audio was the thing I noticed most. And this was not in a high-falutin' new theater with the latest and greatest stuff. But the fullness of the music was (yes, especially the overture) was stunning. I found myself listening...

I'm not talented enough to write my own play. But I know what makes sense to me and what I like or don't like about a play (or any other work of art) and I know how to post that opinion in an online discussion forum. I'm pretty sure that's the point of a place like the Home Theater Forum.

Hmmmm. Not exactly sure how to respond to that one. Isn't it a common thing to decide one's personal satisfaction of a film/play/book by the actions/reactions of its characters? If an action/reaction doesn't ring true...or doesn't follow a projected path of growth...I think it's fair game...

Right. But he can't just feel it and then act inappropriately. And, even moreso, she should not accept it. He was morose and moping while sitting alone. But in her presence felt compelled to be a demanding ass. Not the stuff of successful relationships. And it bugs me that they have...

Me? The anti-romantic? Eliza returns and finds Higgins listening to her recorded voice. She had left because of the compounding abuse and realization she had been "used" with no reciprocal feelings of accomplishment/interest on Higgin's part. The "romantic" in me would want...

Amen, brother. I have complained since the first time I saw this film that the ending is terrible. Minus the last thirty seconds or so, it is a compelling story, etc. But once you get to the "slippers" you lose me every time and I actually get angry. It affects my overall enjoyment of the...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ My Fair Lady (Take Two) -- in Blu-ray

I found this on the interwebz today. It is from the 6-15-1965 Albany, NY Knickerbocker News: The Hellman was one of the grand movie theaters in the Albany area (Cinerama equipped). Long gone.

And yet...this is a discussion forum. Give-and-take is expected. If RAH doesn't want to reply, he knows he doesn't have to. Yet he chooses to.

I'm no expert on such things, David, but i think the 12 frames is just a sub-division of 33 feet. It's kind of like saying that something is 6-feet 4-inches long. The scene is 33-feet 12-frames long on the actual film.
