Jose has GOT to be one of the most prolific film watchers on the forum and always presents a nice recap of what he's watched.
Matthew A:
This is the third time (in recent memory) the moderating staff is needing to tell you that you CANNOT quote other members and change the content of (or delete) sections of their remarks before responding.
It is not fair to the poster who originally makes those remarks to have them...
I just deleted a political comment you made in another thread (on The Best Years of Your Life). You would do well to read up on our posting rules and the fact that we strive for civil discourse (which eliminates direct attacks on other members and frowns upon broad brush slurs against the...
That's ridiculous.
And it will NOT be allowed on the HTF to intimate that anyone who expresses an opposing opinion is homophobic. That's utter nonsense.
Like a film all you want. But to demean others who don't like that same film is against our rules. Challenge those rules at your own risk.
All right, everyone.
Let's rein some of this in and keep posts here to a discussion of film.
Let's lose direct remarks about other members and let's stop talking about political matters (whether US or other countries or state policies).
This is not negotiable.
And if the "Ignore" function...
I don't know too many people any more who think the Oscars are "legitimate" or anything more than an exercise in self-flagellation by the movie industry. Giving great power to something over which we have no control is a sure-fire recipe for unhappiness.
There's a link to the review in the 5-31-11 RoundUp, Matt. But it goes to an error page. :(
If you want to ask Adam or Dave to unearth it, the link is:

Just click on the "+" icon (located in-between the film strip icon and camera icon above the edit box).
You get a drop-down menu. Click "Spoiler" and insert any text you want hidden between the resulting brackets. You can ignore (or fill) the in-between pop-up box that asks if you want a title...
And if the two of you aren't averse to the idea...take a selfie and the two of you can say hello to the rest of us!
Say hi to Ted for me, too!
This is exactly what I was hoping to avoid--a protracted discussion spurred by the previous comments that is not on-topic.
I'm not sure what lesson you hope I have learned. THAT is unclear to me.
And the first part of that last sentence of mine seems perfectly clear to me: Rather than...
Tom:
More to the point...that was a pretty pointless post (the total definition of a threadcrap) in a very popular thread.
If you need a refresher on the rules of the HTF and, in particular, our call for "consideration and respect" please find a link in my signature.
If you have any...
I watched The Nance a couple of nights ago and was quite intrigued.
Lane was quite good and was able to give his character a bit of depth (which might've been difficult as his gay character was playing a stereotyped gay character). I think my poorly stated point is that Lane was able to make...
By the way, we watched this last night (to get my Robin Williams fix).
My wife and I didn't laugh once. Oh wait, yes I did--when Hank Azaria's character put on shoes and fell down.
What a disappointment. Maybe it's one of those films that doesn't age well.
Have you fellas ever seen Chris Elliott's send-up of the Company doc? I think it aired on the old Late Night/Letterman show.
I also don't think half the viewers had any idea what was going on.
Found it!
Enjoy!
And the guys running the board!
And probably the guys shooting the film, too!
We really have seen a huge change in that particular part of our culture over my lifetime (55 years).
