The variants are really irrelevant. The variants all use the same spike protein we are inoculating against. We're not vaccinating against the virus itself at all.

As a side note, in my region the daily recoveries are regularly and easily outnumbering the daily new cases, the latter of which has been in single digits for the last two months. And is often, 1 or 0. I haven't seen any mask wearing going on, everything looks back to normal as we're having...

I don't take it seriously. But I DO take courtesy and politeness seriously, so I still wear my mask and distance myself when I am out among the hordes. And which, I don't go out for just frivolous reasons. Although I am vaccinated I still practice respect for others.

Which by the way, here's how it worked out for me. I was at my pharmacy getting my meds and I saw a sign on the counter, "sign up for your covid-19 vaccination" and assumed they meant, months down the road when the vaccine is much more common. Pretty cool, I thought. Build the list early. I...

ALL humans 18 years of age and up are now eligible to get vaccinated in the state of Texas. On a side note - the symptoms of my immune system responding to the vaccine showed up today. Mild fever, general feeling of fatigue, dimmed energy. Nothing a sudafed and a tylenol didn't cure.

Over 150,000 people in my region have gotten their vaxx. Here's a shot... Taken in nearby Palo Duro Canyon which I made into a demotivator meme hopefully to brighten someone's day.

To see if I could even feel anything. Which, I did not. Until about 20 minutes later! First vaccination I have had since grade school. Probably been at least 45 years. Lost my decoder ring decades ago! Only shots I'd been taking were Crown Royal.

Until about seven hours later when I noticed it wasn't hurting at all anymore and removed the band-aid, then gave it a good rub-in and massage, and did some stretching of the muscle involved. Sucker started hurting somethin' fierce, with the pain radiating even up my neck and along the...

Yeah not sure we build antibodies to the protein itself, when we catch covid. But we definitely do when we get the inoculation though. So yeah, makes since that you would have symptoms just like many do with flu shots. So if you had covid, your system tried to battle the virus. And when you get...

Frikkin awesome - I have been on this since my heart attack in 2016! I bet that's why this sucker hasn't got me yet! I have the plumbing problem. You bet but, I'm as big of a layman as anyone else, no professional training or formal medical schooling. But I took it to heart in the 90s when during the Beatles Anthology George talked about how he looked at LSD in a microscope and said "I'm not putting that in my body anymore" and since then...

And actually, they sort of used the same approach some modern cancer treatments have perfected. My significant other developed breast cancer and by the time she got it looked at it was barely stage four. 5 years before that would have been a death sentence. Their new treatments target the DNA...

Yeah it's just a pharmaceutical we can quickly and inexpensively mass produce instead of incubating and growing a virus in eggs, killing it then injecting people with it. Takes way too long and way too costly and there's way too much margin for error. Whole thing reminds me a little of the...

The Salk model was to make the vaccine out of samples of the dead virus. This was a breakthrough, previously all we had was giving you the live virus in a small dose, so you would then build up immunity to it without actually catching the disease. (Hopefully) Salk's method ensured you could not...

Which by the way I love the strategy employed in these vaccines. It's not a Salk-type model. As I have come to understand it, we're introducing an antagonist to the protein this virus and really all SARS viruses, use to attach themselves to our cells. Once you have both doses your cells are...

Although I'm a 1B here in Texas (Under 65 but with chronic medical condition) my condition is very well managed and I'm not that much of an exposure risk since I'm pretty isolated, I'll wait for when a larger part of the population has had the shot. I'm seeing my cardiologist in two weeks, maybe...
