The orbs suck, yep. The problems with killing CPUs are typically with the AMD CPUs. Because the chip is slightly raised, leaving a square bulge exposed, it is very very easy to crush a side of the CPU. The Intel CPUs are far less prone to that, as the whole surface is flush with the package.
